Asus Rampage III Extreme 1601 sindersMod! (TRIM in RAID0 support for R3E)
#1
I have successfully modded my Rampage III Extreme 1502 BIOS with Intel RAID Option ROM 11.1.0.1413,
JMicron Option ROM 1.07.28 and Marvell Option ROM updated 1.0.0.1029.

On first reboot, the Intel RAID Option ROM 11.1.0.1413 loads fine, no lock ups etc and RAID seems to be fully
working in windows. I haven't tested the modded BIOS in normal SATA mode yet on the Intel controller.

The Marvell and JMicron controllers are working fine too with the updated Option ROMs and firmware.

My Rampage III Extreme 1502 BIOS:

1. Intel Option ROM updated to v11.1.0.1413
2. JMicron Option ROM updated to v1.07.28
3. Marvell Option ROM updated to (BIOS) v1.0.0.1029 / (FW) v2.2.0.1113

Remember, because this bios has been modded with the Intel Option ROM updated to v11.1.0.1413, it is
therefore best paired with Intel RST software version 11.1.0.1006.

You can feel free to download it below.

Please give your comment if you like my modded Rampage III Extreme 1502 BIOS and it is working fine for you too.

You did a great job! I see a newer bios/firmware for Marvell 9128 has been posted on Station Drivers. Could you please update your mod to include that? Thanks much!!!

The only reason why I was successful in updating the Marvell 9128 controller bios/firmware on the
Rampage III Extreme is because I found the needed split parts of the Marvell 9128 bios/firmware
(BIOS) v1.0.0.1029 / (FW) v2.2.0.1113 for integrating with AMI MMTOOL V3.22 BKMOD.

The newer bios/firmware versions you can find on Station Drivers can`t be integrated into the
Rampage III Extreme BIOS in its current form and I haven't seen any download of somebody
managing split these bios/firmware versions into the needed bin/rom files (20, E6, E7) needed
for integration.

If anybody knows somebody that has successfully split the MV-9123/9128 (Firmware:1.0.0.1701/
2.2.0.1118/1.0.0.1029) or MV-91xx Version 2.2.0.1125 into the file parts needed, 20, E6 and E7
and these split parts are known to be working, please post them here and I try and integrate
into the Rampage III Extreme BIOS.

I understand...
Can you extract the modules from another board's bios? I mean, if another manufacturer's released a bios containing newer modules for Marvell and eventually IRST and Jmicron, would you be able to extract them from that bios? I see Gigabyte GA-X58A-OC, Asus Sabertooth and Asus Rampage Extreme Black Edition all have newer bioses than our board, and their changelogs say something like "improved Marvell stability".
Worth a try, I guess!

Maybe I found something interesting! This guy at Tweaktown modded Gigabyte bioses with latest option roms/firmwares, and posted links to the modules too! See HERE...! Let me know if you're successful in modding our bios!

My Rampage III Extreme 1601 BIOS MOD:

Well I have modded this 1601 BIOS that member breakdown234 kindly posted HERE with all the new stuff me and ZioGTS has added in older BIOS 1502.

1. Intel Option ROM updated to v11.1.0.1413
2. JMicron Option ROM updated to v1.07.28
3. Marvell Option ROM updated to (BIOS) v1.0.0.1033 / (FW) v2.2.0.1125

I haven`t tested this new BIOS myself yet on my board because i`m still waiting on feedback on
what's new and changed in this new BIOS version 1601 and its stability compared to 1502.

Nicely done! Wink
Unfortunately, I analyzed 1601 and found out that the only change vs. 1502 is in cpu microcode module (apart from a few corrections of typos in language modules, like "modren" --> "modern"). Doesn't look like they've added support for more cpu models though. Everything else seems identical firsthand.

Aw too bad, I was hoping 1601 would turn my quad into a six core or maybe even a time machine... shucks...
