Which BIOS Tool is the Right One for My Laptop?
#1
I want to flash my BIOS with a tool to reveal hidden settings in the BIOS. Heres the link showing a list of BIOS tools to flash the BIOS. But which is the right one for my Gateway M210 laptop? Heres the link:

https://www.bios-mods.com/downloads/

My BIOS is Phoenix. The link shows 3 Phoenix BIOS flash tools. Which is the right one for me? Below is my BIOS info. I appreciate your help:

BIOS Version, Date:
Phoenix W320.F08, 6/6/2005

Laptop: Gateway M210

Hello koolx,

The correct utility for flashing your BIOS would be this one.

Here is a quick description of each of the three utilities that you saw:

1.) Phoenix BIOS Editor: This is used to emulate Phoenix BIOSes.

2.) Phoenix CRISIS Tool: This is used to recover the BIOS in the case of a bad BIOS flash (a.k.a. A brick).

3.) Phoenix WinPhlash: This utility is used to flash the BIOS.

Wait... Do you already have the modified BIOS image that you want to flash. These tools do not modify them for you.

Hi, sml.. To answer your question, I don't know what you mean by if I have a modified BIOS image. I'm new to modifying the BIOS. All I want is to unlock hidden BIOS settings on my laptop. I hope this is what you mean.

Hello koolx,

It appears that there are not very many unlockable menus within your BIOS. There is also very limited space for performing complex mods.

I was able to perform a full Main Menu upgrade (you will be gaining a few more settings as well as a LOT more items that tell you information about your computer). There are a few other settings that I will be adding as well. These will probably be graphics memory settings and power settings.

Hi, sml. Thank you for replying. How can I perform a Main Menu upgrade as you suggested? I would love to get this quickly.

Hello koolx,

koolx Wrote:How can I perform a Main Menu upgrade as you suggested?

Actually, the Main Menu customization mod is one of the more advanced types of menu mods as it involves quite a bit of restructuring and offset changing in a hex editor. I can teach you though if you are truly interested.

I have several concurrent BIOS requests right now and have to get ready for the upcoming school year, so this may take another day or two.
