Request to unlock advance features in Acer Aspire 5740 Bios Phoenix 1.28

(10-05-2014, 10:50 AM)Sml6397 Wrote: Hello vishalagarwal1286 & h35am,

The BIOS mod is complete! You can find the modified BIOS image at the bottom of this post.

Mods performed:
• Added an Advanced Menu
• Disabled the function that may have been hiding the INTEL Menu

As PBE (used to emulate BIOSes) could not emulate this BIOS, I was in the dark when modding. Further mods will require pictures of the BIOS menus so I know what is showing up and what is not.

Hi Steven,

There are two new menus- Advanced menu and Intel menu & few options added to the main menu.

The pics are attached to this message (I am sorry I couldn't take screenshots of the new menus because I couldn't emulate the bios either so I clicked snaps from a camera phone)-

Hello h35am,

1.) Does this beep occur in the OS or while in the BIOS menus?

2.) Can you tell if it is from the normal speakers or some other internal speaker?

3.) What type(s) of device(s) trigger this?

Hi Sml6397,

This beep occurs in OS and bios, even when loading Windows.
I don't know if theres a internal speaker, so I think from the main speakers.
Only the AC adapter triggers this loud beep(AC power is plugged or unplugged), also when entering the bios this loud beep will be heard.
I thought I'm the only one but unfortunately there are more people whit this problem.
I thank you for your hard work, I can tell you that Acer support did nothing about this (only a mean hack to disable "beep" from system).

Hello h35am,

I am not sure what could be causing the beeping sound. That is sort of an odd problem.

Thank you for your reply, Im not the only one with this problem, I've seen many people with the same problem ( very loud beep sound when ac adapter is plugged in or out and its very annoying). Any ways thank you for your help with bios Smile I figured out that this is only possible via DOS.
Updated the bios via Acer's own tool, worked best cause the other one provided here gave me error.
Thanks a lot
