[REQUEST] Pegatron M2N68-LA/HP Narra5-GL6: BIOS Unlock
#21
Hi there guys !

im new to this forum and just signed up because i've a major problem for about 2 weeks now which i cannot solve.

I have got a HP P6203W
MOBO: Pegatron Narra5
Bios: phoenix technologies 5.55 12/08/2009

I wanted to reduce some noise from my computer by replacing the CPU fan,
so i changed the original fan for a Noiseblocker-Multiframe M8-S1.

Now when i start up the computer; the fan slowly turns around , and i then got an CPU fan error before windows fired up. I can get past it by pressing F2 but its annoying to do so every time i start up. Plus I don't think the fan is turning fast enough.

I already tried checking cpu fan settings in the bios, but i have the blocked bios.
No fan settings here.

Do one of you guys have any clue about how to get my CPU fan working properly again or maybe a bios update for my motherboard ?

Any help would be very much appreciated !

thanks for your time

I'm looking for an unlocked M2N68-LA Narra5 bios that supports CPU overclocking including voltage adjustments. Looks like this is the thread for it, but I don't see anything linking to a modded bios. Help?

This is my first post so I hope I'm doing this right. I checked the forums and could not find an answer to this. I only found what looked like one link to a bios for this but it was an old post and the link was dead.

Okay I have an HP Slimline s5113w
Motherboard is M2N68-LA (narra5)
PN: 513426-001 Rev. A01

I've made some updates to the motherboard over time such as:

Processor Upgraded to: AMD Athlon II X2 260 @ 3.2Ghz
Upgraded Power Supply to RP-TFX-420W
I added all the lovelies like an Asus Wireless N PCIE 1x card
Upgraded the video card to XFX Radeon 5450

Now when I did this I was doing very basic stuff and I was happy with what I was able to do. It was my desktop computer at my office like 3 years ago.

Now I wanted to play some games on it, nothing spectacular but like FFXIV on low settings.

I picked up an ASUS R7240-2GD3-L
I tested it in an eMachines Slimline I have and it was alright.
I later upgraded the eMachines to a GTX750 and want to put this R7 240 in the HP

According to Asus the R7 240 card I have is backwards compatible.
I meet all logical expectations to use this card (or so I thought)

When I put the card in my HP I get nothing, not even a post.

I contacted HP, because I run Windows 8 on it they won't have anything to do with me. I can't even update the basic bios patch they have that requires Vista. They told me to contact Asus.

I did and the lady I got seemed like she used to work for Microsoft tech support. I swear I've talked to her before. She did tell me she'd email me the bios update, that never happened.

This computer runs fine, the only upgrades I want are the Phenom x4 processor and this video card. The phenom says it's doable from HP's site but I am hitting dead ends with the graphics card.

Anyone able to help me out on this?

I would like to update the bios so it will run the video card it in theory already should without having to install Vista. Any advice aside from getting a newer PC would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: The bios in it is the stock 5.43.
There is a 5.49 but it doesn't seem to have done much and I can only install with Vista.
The processor I was looking at is AMD Phenom II X4 830 2.8 GHz Quad-Core HDX830WFK4DGM (Uncertain if will work as is)
The Video Card (More a priority than the processor since I already have it is...)

Hello enzippo,

Could you provide a link to the official BIOS image for this motherboard please? Backups are not moddable, as they do not contain the platform data necessary for the flashing program.

Also, please feel free to PM me if I have not replied again about your BIOS mod request after 5 days.

Hello,

I need help with unlocking my Narra 5 BIOS.

I have the original(Not a Backup) BIOS and tried to open it with ModBin32, but when I open it, it stucks at "Please wait to load BIOS".
The Tool is creating 3 files in the folder with the BIOS, but nothing more.

BIOS(NARRA5.BIN) is in the Attachments

Regards.

Hello everyone, I'm new to this site and I've been finding so many ways of how to overclock this system which was no good. When I tried Nvidia's discontinued Ntune software, the system just froze and restart even with a mild overclock. It seems that the motherboard doesn't like certain OC software. Now I've seen only a few threads about this motherboard, but none of them relates to overclocking, only updates. I created this one and only thread for anyone seeking to help and mod this infamous bios.

Motherboard: Pegatron Corporation M2N68-LA (Narra5)
Cpu: Amd Athlon II X4 630 @ 2.8GHZ
Gpu: GTX 650
Ram: 4GB DDR2 @800MHZ
OS: Windows 10
Bios Version: 5.58
Chipset: Nforce 430 Nvidia Geforce 6150SE

Other OC software I used that you might know are the following:
(These don't work at all)
-Clockgen
-AmdMsrTweaker
-Amd OverDrive
-SetPLL
-SetFSB
-CpuCool
-Amd Catalyst Control Center
-PhenomMsrTweaker

I know this request is long but I just want to know if someone can actually mod this OEM Bios to it's potential. One example is the Unlocked Nettle 3 Bios which I believe came from the same manufacturer. Well, lets see if we can do it   Smile .

My latest bios is included below if you want to update your motherboard!

actually the HP Nettle 3 board was made by ECS, HyperBit.  HP Narra5 was made by Pegatron/ASUS

ModBin32 does not work correctly on 64bit Windows OSes.  try running it on an x86/32bit OS.

I have not been able to locate any working "unlocked" bios mod for Narra3 and Narra5 boards for a few years Sad
