I see many people bricking her laptops by unlocking all the settings, tell me specific what do you want, is very dangerous do that, you can flash the bios with all unlocked and is fine but when you edit the options the laptop bricks.

P.S: Im a noob at bios and I need to unlock the AHCI/IDE Selection in the bios because I am trying to do a hackintosh and its necessary to have ahci....... I think my computer is default to ide! :/
So please mod my bios to make it have that option!

For Hackintosh i use this Kext which can use IDE , but if you have flasshed a Bios AHCI patch you doesn't need this kext...

It has been a long time since I have posted here. I have given up Hackintosh and actually bought myself a Macbook Air. How do I revert all this? Do I just download the official BIOS update from Dell and reflash it? And do I need to change any settings before I reflash it such as change AHCI to IDE or anything else? Thanks!

Hi,

I have recently purchased a SSD and my Dell Inspiron 620 does not have the AHCI mode for the best performance out of the SSD. Please can you help me to enable this feature. I have upgraded to A10 to see if the option had been enabled and it hasn't. If you need anymore information please let me know

Thanks in advance.

I'm going to attempt this in a TL;DR manner.

This system (Sandy Bridge, i Core based, Aptio IV EFI bios) comes with AHCI disabled. Years I've patched bios as others have, now AHCI/OS X work great.... Dell even knows the system works with OS X86.

Now I have two potential goals (besides the 3rd being finding a recovery w/out unsoldering bios chip, I probably will buy a UEFI capable mainboard that works with Ozmosis/OS X86 but am considering buying a spare for this system... it looks fully capable of!)

1) Booting Windows UEFI (Windows 10 feels like it's booting UEFI mode of sorts, but states bios legacy- it went from 20+ sec boot time to 8~ randomly)

2) Booting OS X Clover Bootloader UEFI (Currently legacy only due to no UEFI boot options exposed by dell)

3) Installing Ozmosis (for booting OS X more native) into the UEFI aptio firmware.... (Last goal)

I've used MMTool, UEFITool, etc and I see that the Dell "Diagnostics" in F12 (Need to reboot to windows and get .efi filename and other logs)

I can't see "How" Dell is disabling UEFI booting of sorts (menus removed/disabled, etc) in Aptio tool I enabled AHCI for years, I see almost "no" EFI mentioning except in the "bios strings"  I see sorts of

"boot from UEFI USB , etc" mentioned, but that is probably "text" strings of sorts, seems ot contain EVERY bit of text the bios can display so may just be left over from when dell modified.

I'll post the bios files of sorts and info. I enable poll for my main question...

i need this mod too... the last bios version is MS-A10 and work with Vostro 260/260s/260g and inspiron 620... (H61 Chipset - i Core Based second generation)
someone already make some mod to enable native AHCI (don´t working properly on my tests) but don't unlocked advanced settings or just the UEFI on/off setting menu...
i really need this native hidden UEFI option on bios to me enable it...
i can try donate if it be necessary... i have more than 10 machines (Vostro´s 260s) to format to windows 10 PRO and to me if the hardware is capable to run UEFI i want it working...

This Board Have Native UEFI and AHCI but it stay disable and hidden in BIOS by dell... --''

link to the Bios from dell: http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER01639275M/1/MS-A10.exe
if someone need the dump image from installed bios board i can try get it... just show me how get it

Well, the latest A10 bios will actually brick some USB ports and there is no AHCI option in bios too. Anyone mind to help as I'm in the same situation, upgraded to A10 bios.

Could anyone help me to edit the Bios A10 and enable the option for AHCI. Thanks
