is this mod based on v1.30 bios?

is it possible to flash this using acer's winflash utility? some clean version of it or a way to prevent it to auto-flash the bios included in the exe?

Replaced 2.0 acer slic with 2.1 hp slic
Phoenix bios mod to SLIC 2.1

Here is a Modified Version of your bios embedded in Winflash 32 bit and 64 Bit as you desire.

-IMPORTANT: There are 2 ways of flashing the bios. One way is Winflash 32 and 64 Bit - Rename HMA130_SLIC.EXE to HMA130.EXE before Flashing Bios in Winflash.

Thanks for your hard work and time

Acer travelmate 5730G came with linux os installed windows 7 on it.

I have downladed modified 1.30 bios and I've flashed the bios from bootable flash drive, afterwards checked it with rw software and it was still not slic 2.1 enabled.

I've reflahshed again but it was the same.

On another site (http://www.boerse.bz) I've found the latest modified bios 1.36 and flashed with that and the bios is still not slic 2.1 enabled when checked with rw software.

Here is the link of the latest bios from the acer web site, if possible could you patch with a slic please

Acer Travelmate 5730G 1.36 bios link

Thanks in advance

Chances are because your laptop came with preinstalled linux , you have to use the DMI utilities to "Brand" it as being installed with Vista/7. SLIC table should then appear

Or check with this tool ( be sure to run as admin) : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/747181/SLIC_Dump_ToolKit.EXE

Then come back to us and if the tool doesnt detect a SLIC il sort out the DMI tools and upload them

Hi,

Thanks for the very quick response

I've run the slic toolkit v3.2 as admin and save the basic and the advanced screen at the following links.

Slic toolkit advance screen
Slic tool basic screen

When I first flashed the bios I had also inserted the certificate and the windows 7 key hoping that it would work without checking the slic status of the bios first. I think this installed product keys and certificates does not effect the slic status of the bios.

I hope the screenshots are giving the required information.

The attachment is the slic dupm bin file.

Thank you for your time and efforts, really appriciate it a lot.
Regards
Albatros

Have you tried the 2nd mod by BusyKid posted above , using Acer 2.1 SLIC?

Hi,

Thanks again. I did download the bios modified by Busykid from mydigitallife forums couple of days ago and tried it after failing the positive result by the version 1.36.

Just a moment ago I flashed with Busykid version 1.30 again and took the screenshots
Advanced screen
Basic screen

I did flash both for the 1.30 and 1.36 version from USB bootable disk per instructions on Busykid readme file.

I'm attaching the dump file again, if it means anything.

I'd be grateful if you could patch the 1.36 bios I can try that or please let me know what can I do with DMI utilities.

Regards,

Albatros
