I would contact wessej as he apparently has done it succesfully, unless there are two versions of the 5600 chip.

I'm not really sure what to say. The WIZ stated it was supported, so I bought the 5600, plugged it in without making any changes to the bios and it worked perfectly.
I may have cleared the CMOS, but I certainly did not flash the BIOS.
It's been running for two weeks now without any problems at all. I've run XP, XP 64 and Vista 64.
XP 64 seems to give the highest PASSMARK. (CPU mark around 2200) with Vista 64 slightly behind.
The Sempron that came with the system was dog slow and my wife was constantly complaining. For $30 I feel as if I've given her a new system.
The system also seems more stable with the 5600. It never locks up like it was inclined to do with the Sempron, although that probably has more to do with the OS Re-load.

I flashed the Iris8mod bios and it was successful. Thank You! How do I increase voltage to the memory? I am getting strange over lapping menus. What are the B, S, and T functions?
thank you

Overlapping menus is a side effect, so be careful ( in this bios only anyways) The voltage is not available in this bios, just memclock speed and CPU FSB mostly for OCing

ya, i would like to increase voltage to o/c further. It lists Vdimm in one of the overlapping menus, but it is grayed out. Any suggestions as a way to increase it?
Still havnt figured out some of the letter options. (like q, and t) Anyone found out what they do?
I am also curious if you got a phenom II processor to work in this board. I think I noticed you mentioned working on it in a previous post.
THank you

I found this quote on another site.
"I'm looking to make some modifications to this oem board to add new features, and fix a couple of minor issues
The default bios is fairly locked down, however I managed to find the Retail board its based off (Abit NF-M2S).
This bios adds the majority of the features back, though it also brings about a couple of negatives.
For starters, i'd like for the abit bios to have the ECS Iris8 id's, as the Abit bios reports as a 6100/430 rather then a 6150SE/430.(VGA bios is for a 6150SE however) Secondly the abit bios enables a second sata controller, the ECS mainboard only includes 2 sata ports (Sata1/2)
I'd also like to be able to modify the DDR timings, and also hopefully have a slight issue in the DDR2 MHz fixed, it seems that even when set to 800mhz, it only runs at 750mhz.
If anyones interested in helping, i will upload the original ECS(Compaq Presario) and the Abit bios.
Bios are Award-Phoenix 6.0 (5.27)"
the abit bios download site suggests being able to control Vdimm.
What do you think my chances are of successfully flashing the abit bios?

thank you

Wow, really nice research. I myself have a box with a nettle2 board, and I am waiting to see if I can't get a nettle3 for testing (they're all the same chipset) This is a great find m8. The menu issues and voltage control would be fabulous, and I can port in VGA and stuff from the nettle board without issue.
Don't flash and kill your board, I have testers with this board who I will inquire to first.

Well, here's the deal. The one guy who was testing for me is moving and I haven't heard from him in almost a month now, and Tango Whiskey has been inactive on this topic
So, I was ready to get my nettle2 board prepped for testing, but I fractured the BIOS chip socket on mine and Im afraid if I pull the chip then the socket will get destroyed and Ill be screwed too I am also waiting for the nettle3 board, so I can test this nettle/iris8 mobo without worries. Also, my BIOS programmer is scheduled sometime in the next couple of days so i'm excited.
TheWiz (Thanks for your patience)
