How to boot into DOS with a USB thumb drive
#1
Step – 1
Download - AMI Dos Flash utility, we will be using the AMI flash tool in this example
DOS Flash Utility

Step – 2
Download – USB format tool
Step – 2 Download – USB format tool http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1525839/Programs...0Drive.exe

Step – 3
Download – Winrar "30-day trial, If you like it buy it please!"
http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

Step – 4
Extract the hpflash1.zip using winrar. And double-click the setup to install the hp usb format
tool. Now goto my computer and then to c:\ drive. And now goto “drivekey”.
You will see two files hpusbf.exe and hpusbfw.exe. We are only going to use hpusbf.exe as we don't really need cd rom support to flash the bios. Right-click on hpusbf.exe and select extract to hpusbf\. As indicated in the pictures below.

C:\

C:\driverkey\

c:\drivekey\hpusbf.exe
[Image: 3.jpg]
Now the reason you extracted hpusbf.exe is this is where the dos boot files are stored. But for some odd reason that just came packaged this way by hp. And had to be manually extracted.

Step - 5
Now that they are extracted close the window. And locate the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool short cut on your desktop and insert a usb thumb drive. Now in the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool, set it up like in the picture. You can set the name to whatever you want. Just make sure everything else is as shown. And just click start, This will make the thumb drive bootable.

Step – 6
Extract afudos.rar and copy the files to the thumbdrive. Reboot your system, after post you should have cmd prompt. Please refer to the specific how-to for AMI, AWARD, or PHOENIX flash utilities and how to use them

By requesting, downloading, and flashing a modified
bios you are held responsible for what you choose
to do with it. flash at your own risk! And please
remember to let us know if our mods work for you!
