MBX-160 , Rev: v1.1 , Chipset: Intel 945GM
#11
Look at your screenshots.
Your laptop uses 945GM with 32bit's PAE. So it can't address memory above 4GB.
In your laptop memory above 0xC0000000 address is used by internal devices. So 3072 Mb are available.
PCI bus use I/O addresses: from 0xC0000000 to 0xFFFFFFFF. Because of it the chipset can't use addresses higher then 0xC0000000 for operating memory.

Theoretically this range can be reduces to 0xD0000000-0xFFFFFFFF. It should increase maximum memory to 3328 Mb.

Your notebook has the same chipset that my notebook has and is in the same notebook series, so it is possible for me to take platform data from my flashable BIOS image and apply it to your BIOS dump to make it flashable.

This procedure has had a 100% success rate for all of the times I have done it and is pretty safe, but I do want to let you know that each additional mod outside of normal BIOS mods introduces another risk factor.

I will complete and upload your BIOS mod either later tonight or tomorrow.

~Steven

Hello Sml6397
I have a Sony Vaio VGN-N31M/W with the same MBX-160 (my is Rev: 1.0) and the same R0100J4 bios version of the user sickplanet. Even if my notebook model is different, I can flash the mod version you created https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-U...100J4-BIOS?
Thank you!

Hello castiman,

Yes, if the motherboard and BIOS versions are the same, you can flash that BIOS mod.

I join the problem. There is a laptop VGN-N 11 (mobile intel calistoga gm i945, napa0001.86c.0056.d.0702081041) installed 4 gigabytes of RAM but the BIOS sees only 3 gigabytes. BIOS I have r0100j4 from Steven.
how to make the computer run on all memory?

Hello Sml6397,
I have Similar notebook Sony Vaio VGN-N11SR/W with the same Motherboard MBX-160 Rev 1.1 with original BIOS R0030J4. I just wanted to double check, that your modified bios would fit? In your first message you mentioned that your original BIOS was R0070J4, but R0030J4 also works on your system, if I understood correctly. Does it mean that R0070J4 will work on mine?

UPD: I tried and got an error "Platform Signature Not found in the Interface". So it seems I need another mod Sad
