I put the efi shell(bootx64.efi) into efi disk and set boot by easyuefi so that I can easily set settings without USB flash drive.
I didn''t clear CMOS and found this:

Setting: Secure Boot:, Variable: 0x24D {05 A6 8C 00 8D 00 20 AE 34 12 4D 02 04 10 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00}
0xA5F12 Option: Enabled, Value: 0x1 (default) {09 0E FE 00 10 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00}
0xA5F20 Option: Disabled, Value: 0x0 {09 0E FD 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00}
0xA5F2E End of Options {29 02}

So I boot into efi shell and enter this in command line:
setup_var 0x258 0x1
setup_var 0x24D 0x1
reboot

And then,bios settings was saved.
The reason that a long time system launch for I think is due to win8‘s Hybird Boot.Turn it off and I didn't find the problem anymore.
Thanks for your help. Tongue

Hi all,

(I'm new to the BIOS modding scene and have been out of the overclocking game for a couple of years!)

For some reason, EFI shell gets stuck on my VN7-591G. I get the prompt, but cannot type anything.

rjw123 - since you seem to have got this to work, could you explain a couple of things for me please?

1) Did you use USB key to boot from? A previous post indicates that you might have just placed the file on the hard disk.
2) Am I correct in assuming that all I need to do to unlock the advanced menu is change the 0x258 variable to 0x1 as per the instructions?
3) What settings does this unlock and will it enable some bus / clock speed / CPU power tweaks?

Many thanks!

first, I download the efi shell from here: https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-R...7#pid90017
what I only do is that I put the file(bootX64.efi) into efi partition by using diskpart to assign drive. you need to get administrator promote and open explorer.exe to access the efi partition.and then, use easyuefi to set boot options.
ensure your bios version,my bios version is v1.13 and I can't guarantee the right variable in your bios.
there are some settings.[Image: dDjvsXB*QAAA&ek=1&kp=1&pt=0&bo=dASAAkAGg...viewer_311]
