Current BIOS: 68AZZ F.21 (pretty sure not RSA signed).

Bios download here: http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=4145331&swItemId=ob_112229_1&swEnvOid=4059

I cannot find the info on my current wifi card.
Here is a photo of the new one:

I understand the risks involved and have a recovery USB already, HP_TOOLS partition is already removed.

My vote also.

Just bought the Intel AC7260 wifi card for my HP Probook 4720s. The webshop warned already about the whitelist, but i did the gamble of trying it for 29 euros anyway. Unfortunately the laptop complains about the unauthorized wifi chip, that it has to be removed before startup can continue.

I tried the one and only currently existing "HP ProBook_4520s_4720s_sp52015_F.0F_no_whitelist". But the flash software tries to flash 3 times, and gives a warning that the bios has become in a corrupted status and that i should not shutdown. Reran the original BIOS flash software from HP, and rebooting seems to work fine luckily.

Also looked into modifying the newest bios from the hp site myself, i believe i can do anything when i put enough efforts into it, but it seems to be quite a study to do it, and the danger of ruining your laptop... Some pro here who could have a try on building a proper no-whitelist version of this bios?

The link to the latest bios for the HP Probook 4720s is http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp67001-67500/sp67224.exe

Thanks!

More info:

- Following the steps in the RSA topic, i don't get a 'decrypted' message in PhoenixTool. So no RSA things going on.
- PCI ID: Not sure where to look. See the screenshot i attached to this message, possibly some useful info is in there.

Update:

I started on the General-method-to-remove-whitelist-from-Insyde-BIOS workflow in the topic in the same sub-forum as this thread. Got up to the something.com file now. I will attach it here in case i give up and someone else wants to continue (something.zip).

Update2:

After turing for 4 hours or so to debug.exe i cannot see straight anymore. No "TEST AL, AL" to be found. Neither a JMP to it's own memory position. To be continued Dodgy

I need some help from pro's who have been here before. I'm trying now to change the PCI-ID to the one of the new WIFI card (Intel AC7260).

PCI ID of my current OLD wifi card: VEN_1814&DEV_3090&SUBSYS_1453103C

When I open the original bios rom image from the HP site, and search for hex 14 18 90 30 3C 10 53 14, i get two hits on this.

The NEW card has this pci-id according to some site on the internet: VEN_8086&DEV_08B1&SUBSYS_40708086 (https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Intel_Dual_Ban...7260HMW%29)

This translates to 86 80 B1 08 86 80 70 40 in hex values.

Easy enough to replace this. THOUGH:

Then I read on http://www.paul.sladen.org/thinkpad-r31/...i-ids.html about BIOS checksums checks which i probably will run into if nothing is done against that. Does someone maybe has experience in this?

I tried searching in hex for 43 4b 53 4d which stands for CKSM, which should be it according the website above. But I cannot find any matches on that in the original HP BIOS ROM.

And another thing: Why do I get TWO results on the old pci-id? Maybe because one of them is of the 'default' BIOS which the laptop could return to in case the checksum fails? So I should only change one?

Update: I see now that the Rom.bin file in the Rom folder might be only part of the total bios data. And I also see CryptRSA32 files in the BiosUpdate folder. I give up without help from some pro here. Too complicated. Possibly my above info about the pci-id's could be enough to help the pro's out on this. Hope someone can help.
