[REQUEST] Sony Vaio VPCEH & VPCEJ series (R0xx0Z9) BIOS Unlock
(02-26-2025, 11:01 AM)lactose_ Wrote: Hello, sorry for the bad English, I'm using a translator, I wanted to unlock the BIOS of my Sony vaio vpceh40eb notebook, which is using the BIOS insydeH20 rev3.5 r0210z9, I wanted to unlock the BIOS and install the UEFI system on it
BIOS Backup:Universal BIOS Backup ToolKit 2.0

Hi, I'm quite new in this site but I found a tool to do the changes on a dumped bios on your own. It didn't require any special knowledge.
I can't share the tools due to copyright, but I started my search here:

https://www.insyde.com/products/development-tools/

The tools I needed were for a Vaio VPCEH of a friend, if I bricked it, it wasn't a big loss.
I simply made a backup of my Bios with the universal tool, executed the app for my bios version in the INSIDER_BIOS_TOOL_MASTER
Changed the parameters to unhide the menues, checked that the size was the same and veryfied its integrity.
Flashed the modified .ROM file with a USB thumb. There are easy tutorials in the Forum regarding that.

It's highly recommended to have another USB at hand, and have the instructions to flashback the original Bios to revert a brick-state, in case something goes wrong.
These steps were followed to update from a R0180z9 to a R0210z9, and I didn't have any Issues.

If you are not 100% sure if you're doing everything fine before flashing, you can always ask in the forum.

I hope you have a successfull modding Smile
