[SOLVED] Samsung R530C
#1
I wanted to upgrade my cpu's laptop from the default i3 330m to an I5

I bought an I5 480m but even though it powered up there was only a black screen with the led of power constantly on, no boot screen

So i figured out that the i5 480m is not supported by the BIOS. I went back my original and everything was fine as before.

1) Is it possible to add microcode for this CPU?

2) Which CPUs are supported by the BIOS?

If you need anything else please tell me. Thank you again!

Tell sSpec of your i5-480M.
Try this algorithm with native BIOS:
1) remove AC jack, Main Battery, and CMOS Battery
2) remove HDD and all DIMMs
3) install new CPU
4) wait 10 mins
5) press and hold power button for 30 sec.
6) install CMOS Battery and one DIMM only, inject AC jack (without Main Battery!)
7) try to boot your laptop.
P.S. Current BIOS has microcode for CPUID=0x020655: version - 0x2, date - 03/01/2010

1) My battery is dead i only use ac power and run laptop with battery removed

2) I removed everything , installed CPU , put everything back then power on, no boot constantly blue light on, dead in the water

3) I removed everything again, have only bare mainboard, cpu and cmos battery. put ac jack power on, same as previous,

4) removed cmos battery, power on without cmos battery, same as previous.

5) installed previous cpu, put everything back on and everything back to normal

6) for a moment i thought i ... up and my laptop is dead for ever

Another friend tried the cpu to two different laptops, one asus, one acer, the asus native i3 350m, the acer native i7 620m

asus powers on no boot same as mine, acer could not power on. they swapped cpus between them just to check what is going on and the asus with the i7 620m booted instantly as well as the acer with the i3 350m

are you sure that the bios supports this cpu?

i know that my BIOS supports the same CPUID as i5 480m , as you also said, but the i5 480m was introduced in january 2011 and my bios version is 21/6/2010

What are friend's laptops? Can you make & post screenshots of first (CPU) & third (Mainboard) tabs of CPU-Z from these laptops?

The asus is k52jr with the i3 350m

I dont know the acer model, sorry.

Its very difficult to find pictures. I may find the acer model. I will update accordingly

Is it possible that the cpu is broken from where i bought it?  How can i test that?

I bought it from an ebay seller who said fully tested and working and has 100% positives

i can post pictures

BIOS for ASUS K52Jr has the same microcode.
Please find Acer model.

Update:
I have bad news: i5-480M should work in ASUS K52Jr - http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench3/4702817
So your CPU is simply dead...
