Dear DeathBringer,

Flashed with v3 of the modded BIOS, my 780 USFF now boots normally with X3363 (SLBC3) without any warnings. The Virtualization option in BIOS setup screen is also visible now. Microcode version is A0C.

Thank you again and kudos for your great help !!

Just in case you would like to see them, attached please find the BIOS info page and Regedit data after flashing the v3 mod.

Dear DeathBringer,

Could you please advise why my system is different from other's? Is it the version of the X3363?

I am curious because it seems others in this thread had success with the first or 2nd version of the mod using the same CPU and 780 USFF.

Thank you again.

Chreers,
zK

Dear DeathBringer,

Thank you for your reply.

Oh, I see... and yes, I am afraid I got confused this thread with the other.

But then, I did try the modded firmware from that other thread on my X3363 + 780 USFF and it didn't work (Incompatible CPU, Halted). The weird thing is, the same firmware worked for my friend's X3363 +780 SFF. (SFF, not USFF) which makes us wonder what was going on.

Cheers,
zK

I've got an old Dell Optiplex 780 with and e8500. I found a "Modified" processor on ebay that is a LGA 771 Xeon X5460. Supposedly this Proc has been modified to work in a LGA 775 mobo. I bought it cause it sounded fun, only to realize Intel removed all the bios updates for older chips. What are my options, if any?

Your system is based on Q45 chipset. It hasn't support for Xeon 5400 series.
