T7700 on Samsung R520 T4200 Stellion
#1
Hello,

I recently bought an Intel T7700 to replace my slow T4200 in my Samsung R520 Stellion laptop.
Conclusion: Laptop doesn't even come to the POST-Screen. Dodgy
The PM45-Chipset should be compatible to the the older, but faster CPU.
I think Samsung didn't include the T7700 in the BIOS.
Is it possible to integrate this CPU into the BIOS?

Here's the link to the BIOS-file on the (german) Samsung-page:
WIN32.64_R520_R522_R620_07LL.exe

If you need further information to integrate the CPU, please ask!

Thank you in advance.
Greetings from Germany,
Stefan

Can you please find us another model , preferably as similar as possible which already officially supports the T7700

Thanks

Hello,

that's the BIOS-file of one of the only laptops I've found with a T7700 and a phoenix-BIOS:
ThinkPad R61 BIOS

And here is a Link to the BIOS of a Samsung-laptop with the very similar T7500 (just the multiplier is lower):
R70-Aura T7500 Denet BIOS

The problem is, both don't have the PM45-chipset but the pm965 oder gm965.
Is it possible to mod it respectiveliy would it be worth the risk?

Greetings,
Stefan

We have recently discovered that unlike we previously thought, CPU microcodes are not chipset dependent so it doesnt matter what chipsets the boards are as long as they are the same type eg Phoenix/AMI/Award

Unfortunately while i managed to extract the CPU code out of the other bios , i cannot reinsert it into your bios, my tools report theres no microcode module there to start with and i get build errors when trying to add one :S

Ive emailed my co-admin , hopefully between us we may come up with something

Thank you very much for your efforts!
I really hope you will find a solution. It's fascinating which things can be done by modding BIOSes.

I'd really like to help you if I could somehow Big Grin

Hello,
sry for being so impatient, but have you yet come to any breakthroughs in modding the microcode into the bios?

Greetings, Stefan
