HI RICHARD ,

so , which mod has worked and unlocked all the options !
is it in the post 59 in page 7 ! or what mod worked for you !

i`m asking that as i want to change the name of the thread to ( VAIO VGN AR-840E UNLOCKED BIOS AT POST XX ) so that any one can directly download it without searching in 9 pages of posts Smile

It was the BIOS.WPH file within the new_mod.rar file you had provided in Post 59, on July 25, 2011 at 7:55 PM after I had explained to you that I could no longer flash off of the USB drive.

Hope that will help others with their Sony Vaio VGN-AR840E laptops.

UPDATE & QUESTION - Does my BIOS have a VGA Switching Policy Option under the Advanced tab? From user group on another site (non-BIOS mod), I was advised that this notebook might indeed have such option under the Advanced tab, but it is locked/hidden as a default. It can be used to change from Automatic to Static, and impacts ability to use LVDS internal and external display options in alternative OS (meaning Operating Systems not owned by Bill Gates).

Okay, now what? I think we have tackled 2 million problems so far. Still no anti-virus running on this pc.

Richard

Hi,

I get the same error when running PHLASH from bootable USB Flash Drive, it loads and reads BIOS.WPH from post #59 but gives the above error.

Any suggestions on what I need to do, my bios is stock and never been changed or unlocked.
