[solved] Enable AHCI on Asus P5P43TD/USB3
#1
Hi

Can anyone enable AHCI on my Asus P5P43TD/USB3 with ICH10? I need it for my new SSD and don't want to buy a new mobo because of that.

This is the BIOS link

The Asus P5P43TD Pro is similar with ICH10R and AHCI enabled in BIOS (if that helps).

I hope you can help me!

Thank you
Cooper

Antinomy,

thank you very much!

As far as I can see everything works. I can now select AHCI mode in BIOS. Depending on the selection IDE or AHCI configuration options are shown.

Windows uses its MSAHCI.SYS driver now, so I could do a firmware update of the SSD and I have a great performance increase over IDE mode.

Attached are some screenshots.

Thank you again
Cooper

Antinomy,

could you explain how you did the modification? I already got some tools (AMIBCP, MMTool, amideco) before I asked here in the forum. But didn't quite know what to do with them.

Thanks
Cooper

First of all, you need to extract the 1B module using MMTool. It's the main module. One part of it contains all that is what you call "BIOS" - the menu options that are allowed to be changed. Then using a HEX editor I've inserted the existing but hidden menu in your menu tree and it "magically" appeared. This feature was there but wasn't in the tree so AMIBCP didn't see it. Then I've packed the module back and here it is Smile

Sounds simple but it needs some attentive hex looking.

Ok, forget my question. Just found out, that you have to edit a registry entry. Well, now the BIOS works PERFEKT! Thank you soooo much!!! Smile

Hi. Thanx a lot for AHCI enabled BIOS. that's great. Well done!
I'd like to ask you for big favor.
Is it posible to enable RAID and DRAM Command Rate as well?
In manual there is this option, but I miss it in BIOS.
I tried to send this request directly to ASUS, but no respond.
Thank you very much.

Hi,

I have similar problem in ASUS p5p43t bios. I'm using the latest version for this mobo. P5P43T-ASUS-0406.ROM

Would you tell me how to use HEX editor to unhidden 'Configure SATA as' menu?
If you have time, can you review my bios?

Sorry for my english.

Thanks,
Frank.
