Hi , all . This is my first post . Bios mod Noob.
Anyway I have an MSI PM8M-V Ver. 1 Mobo
The bios version is V3.4
I can't find a link for the bios file, but thought that you might have
it already.
So here's the story:
I had 500MB memory on the board and wanted to upgrade.
MoBo manual specified a max memory limit of 2 GB, 1 GB
per slot.
Accordingly , I got some generic pc3200 low density memory on EBAY.
The order was for two 1GB modules.
After receiving the modules (said 1GB on the module sticker),
I installed the modules and booted up.
Surprise! The POST tells me I have 3670016k of memory!
No beeps or errors, and the pc wont boot the O.S.
Then I thought I would try just one module( apparently a 2GB and
not 1GB as stated on the label) in slot 1 Even though the manual
stated a limit of 2GB total, 1GB per slot.
The pc then booted fine, and windows sees the 2GB memory
module.
Since the bios POST was able to test more than 2GB of memory,
could this indicate that the memory size limit of 2GB might
be unlockable?
I would be willing to try it, if possible.
