Advant 7098 & Acer Travelmate 4021WLMi
#1
Question
Hello all,

I have two machines in the garage which I want to revive for the kids :-).
1. Advant 7098 (Quanta KN1) that runs phoenix bios.
2. Acer Travelmate 4021WLMi

Both have phoenix bios and have Windows XP that won't boot :-).

1. how do I find the right bios for them to upgrade the bios?
2. Are there custom bios options to override these ones with another one?

Thanks!

Hello ranbes,

I'm going to ask a few questions just for clarification.

1.) What kind of error are you getting with Windows XP when you try to boot? I don't know if I'll be able to resolve this issue, but I can do my best to work with you to resolve it.

2.) Are you trying to upgrade to the latest BIOS version? Usually, you can find the latest version on the manufacturer website. Go to the support page for your laptop model and then there should be a section that says something like "Drivers and Downloads". Go there and find the BIOS download.

You can either use the Phoenix WinPlash tool for flashing your BIOS or follow these instructions: https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-H...1#pid37701

Usually flashing through DOS is safer. The linked method uses DOS.

3.) Are you looking for BIOS mods for these laptops? If you can provide me with official BIOS updates, I can add hidden settings and menus. Do you currently have copies of the BIOS updates for these laptops?

!!!!!PLEASE READ!!!!!! Our Ukrainian friends are undergoing atrocities right now and need support. There are two things you can do for starters:

1.) Donate to one of various organizations offering medical, military, and psychological support to those impacted: Support Organizations

2.) Combat misinformation on social media.

Also, please feel free to PM me if I have not replied again about your BIOS mod request after 5 days.
