I've recently updated an Asus P9X79LE with a 6 core I7-4930K @ 3.4 GHz & 64GB DDR3 memory with a TPM 2.0-9665 module which worked without a hitch after enabling it in the BIOS. W11 actually installed without a fuss even though the chip isn't on their list as far as I know.
Now I'm attempting to upgrade an Asus M5A99FX Evo R2.0 with an 8 core AMD-FX8350 @ 4.0 GHz & 32 GB DDR3 memory with the same TPM 2.0-9665 module. The BIOS has been updated to the M5A99X-EVO-R20-ASUS-2501.CAP file from the Asus website (May 2014) which will show 2 options under Advanced security, one is TPM Support & the other is TPM State. When I attempt to enable both options & save the BIOS settings it only retains the TPM support setting & always sets the TPM state back to disabled upon reboot.
I have no idea how to troubleshoot this sort of problem other than searching the net where I found people asking the same question without answers. Both Mobos & their BIOS firmware are for DDR3 memory & both are from close to the same manufacture date. However the one I was able to update is Intel & this one giving me trouble is AMD whereas I'm not sure if this has anything to do with my issue.
Is it possible that this is a BIOS firmware issue & does anyone know of a custom BIOS for this mobo to allow that TPM setting to function properly?
Am I out of luck updating this mobo to TPM 2.0 & perhaps have to settle for a TPM 1.2 20-1 module?
Thanks in advance.
