In my Inspiron 9400 with ICH7-M since I use SATA expresscard with 2 HDD in RAID0 and internal port of ICH7-m was left unused I decide to mod it into ESATA port.
Patched PCI registers, enabled ports and ABAR (memory space)
Result is problem.
Under Linux hotplug works (all OK)
Under OSX hotplug works (all OK)
Under Windows 7 I encountered problems.
-with MS integrated drivers I can only once to insert HDD and get detected, after safe removal HDD still present in device manager with yellow ! also there are no sound event at removal.Others tries to redetect HDD are without result.
(after scan for hardware change in device manager,I get sound of device removed and after replugin HDD isdetected fine)
-with Intel drivers (tried few version from support) is not working at all.No sound event when HDD attached,no disk detected, nothing.
Could be that drivers from Intel have somehow detect what chipset is and disable hotplug capabilities?
Can somebody tell me what device id have some ICH with esata activated?
And maybe a DSDT from one board with ICH and ESATA?
