Packard Bell BV Store bought
#11
It's a desktop. I'll try request it.
I can't find the BIOS download.
Can I not unlock my BIOS settings without flashing? is there another way?
It's really annoying that I can't find the BIOS on the manufacturers website. Does any of this information help to find the BIOS? or even an update for the bios?

Sorry about the "notebook" thing. I spent too much time in notebookreview forum. Wink

To unlocked options/sub-menus, will require modding the BIOS image. Look like the only way to get the BIOS image is by requesting it from manufacturer.

BTW, did you check the PLL number at SetFSB homepage? If you can't afford the shareware version, you can use the free version. Please look in the Overclocks section in this post & this post for example.

If you use my modified BIOS image & you like it, please consider making a donation. Thank you very much. Smile

Thanks Kizwan. I did try the free version which does have my PLL number, but the settings don't save. They reset everytime I click 'Set FSB'
I have used the customer support page at Packard Bell to try and get the proper BIOS image from them and have also requested BIOS upgrades for my machine, hopefully they can get back to me soon and we can see if we can unlock the CPU options in my BIOS.

Don't press "Set FSB" button. In the "PLL Control Registers" box, when you click at the marked value:-
(Note: This is an example. On your computer, you might need to decrease the value instead of increase.)
Quote:The PLL isn't supported fully by SetFSB for the A42Jv I tested, you need to edit the registry
You need to change yours in these 3 circles into that number...
and if want to change the BCLK,
to increase ~7MHz, decrease the 97 to 96
to increase ~3MHz, decrease the 39 to 38...
...the value will appear in Hex & Bin fields as shown in the picture below. Change the value; increment or decrement by 1, then press Update & Apply buttons:-

Check in CPU-Z for Bus Speed change:-

Then run CPU test program like prime95 to check whether the new Bus Speed stable or not. If windows didn't crashed, increment or decrement by 1 more & repeat the process.

Thanks Kizwan. I followed those steps in the above post but I still did not manage to overclock the processor. I have recieved this message from Packard Bell.

Quote:Thank you for contacting Packard Bell UK.

Regarding your enquiry, we regret the inconvenience experienced. We would not recommend flashing your BIOS due to the inherent risk of rendering your machine inoperable.

We are sorry to inform this is an obsolete product and do not have any drivers or software for this product. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide any support on this product and request you to contact a local technician.

However, please access the below mentioned link, where you might find the BIOS for your computer.

ftp://ftp.download.packardbell.com/DESKT...007-2009)/

I didn't ask for their advice on whether I should flash my BIOS, but asked where I could download the BIOS. I don't think they have been very helpful. But I do think the BIOS file you need is somewhere in that directory (though I don't know what it might be called)

Could you take a look and see if you can find it?

Sorry, I can't find the BIOS file in there. Even if I there is, I don't know whether the BIOS file is for your computer or not (unless specified in the filename or readme file).

If you use my modified BIOS image & you like it, please consider making a donation. Thank you very much. Smile
