I have a Compaq CQ60-210EG laptop with nVidia GeForce 8200M G onboard video...which takes 256MB out of the system's DDR2 RAM for itself.
I just upgraded from 3GB to 4GB total RAM but realized the onboard video is still taking its 256MB out of the THIRD gigabyte...not the FOURTH as I expected. As a result Windows sees 4GB but can only use 2.75GB, just like it did before when I had a total of 3GB.
Is my assumption that the memory allocation is controlled through the nVidia video BIOS correct? If yes, can it be modded to change that?
