I have a recently acquired Asus P5Q-SE2 that has me tinkering around in the bios out of curiosity.
I'm no expert by any means, but I was pleased to see how easy it was to update the ROMs, something that most of you probably do routinely.
I was able to update my Marvell PATA, EZ Flash 2, and Realtek that way, but one thing that really has me scratching my head is where to locate the ROM for my ICH10 SATA controller.
I know it should have an ID of 8086, but it doesn't show up in MMTool at all, and in fact I have only two option roms that show up labeled as such in my BIOS.
Either I'm not looking at the right things with MMTool, the Marvell PATA controller is the actual controller for my SATA, or the SATA controller's firmware is hard-coded into the chip and incapable of updating.
Does anyone know more about this than I do?
***UPDATE***
Added the stock BIOS for the P5Q-SE2 for anyone who feels interested in poking around in it with MMTool to see that there are only two clearly labeled option roms (one for the Marvell PATA controller and the other for the RealTek LAN).
Anyone know where the SATA ROM is lurking here?
