Hey folks,
I've got this headless server, it is a Supermicro H8DSP-8AD001 with attached storage array (SAS). I have for a long time beein trying to gain access to the data on the storage array but my issue is that the OS on the server is corrupt and can't be fixed. I'd therefore like to boot the server from a linux live disk (USB) and gain access to the data for backup that way. I am not able to boot from CDROM as there are no SATA/ATA connectors on the board
My only option it seems is booting from USB. The catch is that no matter how long and how much i change in the BIOS settings, NOTHING let's me boot from the USB. I have contacted the Supermicro asking for help but all i got was a EOL statement for the board.
Right now, the closest i get to booting is a black lit screen after POST and keyboard seems to freeze. I presume it freezes because if i press numlock then i can't toggle back. Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't work during this phase either.
I have tested the USB stick on another system and it boots just fine.
Would someone kindly have a look at the structure of the BIOS in use and possibly point out what needs to be set and to what, in order to get the USB to boot.
Attached dspr6306.rom is the stock BIOS that i am running.
Attached AMIBCP3.46.EXE is a tool i have found during my long hours spent trying to fix this. It will display all settings and there is the option of changing settings and saving to ROM.
I will reward the kind soul that manages to help me BOOT to USB.
