I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong place. I have a friend who has an HP Mini 1035NR netbook with an AMI BIOS. Windows XP won't boot up and I can't find any CD/DVD that will boot to reinstall -- including what appears to be the original WinXP CD. The setup hangs everytime. I don't have any proof that the BIOS is old and causing a problem, but it is MANY revisions behind the last one. (Something like "5" and the current is "16") Anyway, I am hoping that maybe if I can update the BIOS that this netbook will start seeing the external drive in order to put everything back. Unfortunately, it appears HP's BIOS flash is Windows only and I cannot figure out if there is any way to get a ROM image out of this executable file that will not run under DOS. I don't want to modify anything. I'm just trying to help a friend get his computer working again, and after reading the HP boards -- I didn't believe they'd be very helpful. Anybody have any ideas? I do have the AFUDOS program and can boot to DOS. Thanks, in advance, for any help.
