[Request] Lenovo G500s Bios Unlock
#1
Hello, I'd really like to unlock some feature on my Lenovo, maybe run it only on the nvidia gpu instead of the whole optimus intel/nvidia thing maybe.
Here is my current BIOS that I extracted with Universal BIOS Backup toolkit.

http://rghost.net/8lTBgzL2H

Thanks in advance. If everything works I'll try to scrape some funds on paypal to give some back Big Grin

You can use the Sleep Bug too . . .

Unpack the Bios Mod and copy the "modified" folder into C: HD root place !
Then open Command Promt with Admin Rights (CLI window C:\), put your laptop
into Sleep Mode (just close the Lid) and then Wacke-Up It (reopen the Lid),
after this execute these comands from CLI window :

cd \

cd modified

fptw -f bios.bin -bios

(or fptw64 for Windows x64)

Your Brain . . . . It's the best tool U can use ! Wink
Don't FLASH the Bios Mod if You get a Size Alert, You risk a Brick !!!

Are you sure I can't change the default graphics controller from SG (switchable graphics) without bricking?

Ok, well I won't try then I don't really want to have to buy a new laptop when I just upgraded this one's RAM, HDD and SSD Big Grin

Thanks again, I sent a little bit of money your way, it's not much but I can't afford more at the moment

Please note that even if you brick this laptop you would not have to take it to the service or buy a new one! Wink
Could get USB SPI flasher + SOIC-8 test clip from China for about $20 in total (more or less, it depends on products features)
Such tools are really helpful for BIOS experimentations: they can read a backup from SOIC-8 BIOS chip that is on laptop's motherboard,
as well as flash new BIOS images directly into this chip - all that without needing to desolder a BIOS chip - thanks to a SOIC-8 test clip

This seems really cool and interesting, is there a website where I can learn more about all of this? I would definitely ponder buying one of those Big Grin
