[CPU support request] Toshiba Satellite L755D (AMD) AMD-A8-3550MX
#1
Greetings everyone;

I am currently using a Toshiba Satellite L755D with a AMD A8-3510MX, i recently purchased a AMD A8-3550MX and swapped it into the laptop.

In short, the new CPU does not work at all, when i press the power button the laptop power on LED turns on and that is it, the missing features are:

No fan spin
Screen remains completely black
No beeping from the motherboard
No nothing basically
I get the same symptoms when i forgot to tighten the CPU socket (basically when i try to turn the laptop whith no CPU)

It is also important to mention that i tried this with the Unlocked BIOS and the official bios posted before, so the custom BIOS has nothing to do with the CPU not working.

I switched back to A8-3510MX and laptop works normally.

Im 99% sure the cpu i received is damaged, atacched below are some photos that show a missing SMD component on the CPU, i assume this damage essentially turned the CPU into a 150 USD paperweight.

But for that 1% remaining, could it be possible that the L755D does not support the CPU? the official BIOS update notes do not explicitly mention added support for this CPU.

Could it be possible to add support for A8-3550MX to the L755D if it does not have it already?

The following MEGA link contains all the required information in a RAR file: current BIOS settings screens, a copy of the BIOS saved using Universal BIOS Backing ToolKit V2.0, an unlocked BIOS requested in this forum about a day ago and photos of the potentially damaged processor.

https://mega.nz/file/xxZDECAa#0NvxkhpI1a...M83A7h4D7g

I also mention that there is no need to use the unlocked BIOS if it is harder to add support for this CPU than the official one.

That is all for the moment, i hope this is only a BIOS-related thing and not that the CPU is actually damaged.

Best regards;

Vizzen

I think that it should work but I don't have exact information about support of A8-3550MX.

Thanks DeathBringer;

In that case i guess i will return this CPU and keep the 3510MX as the most probable reason that the CPU does not work is that it is damaged and not that the motherboard does not support it.

I assume also if it was not supported at least some message would pop up rather that the laptop acting the same as if it had no CPU at all.

If anyone else knows for sure if it is supported or not i would be happy to hear your opinion.
