Acer s81m and pci sata .ROM
#1
i spent all night trying to get it to work and just couldn't. just found modbin and when i try plug in utility i get !!function disabled!! im at my wits end here and then i found this fourm. you guys are saints and i thank you for this.

alright now on to business. im trying to get my VIA vt6421a SATA PCI chipset recognized in my bios so i can throw a boot disk on it. also another thing i found out about through bios modding is increasing the hdd size. this one dosent recognize my 2TB (actually the bios i link to is updated from mine and has more options so it might already have a higher limit) also, one last thing if its not to much trouble, its a p4 board with about a 2.00ghz limit, any way to jack that up so i can throw a 2.8ghz or 3.0ghx w/HT in it? or should i ask in the cpu forum (again it might be updated in the new bios, i havint tried the new bios yet because i have no floopie's and no windows flash options seem to want to run but im running out now to grab some)

Acer Veriton 3300 with s81m mobo

bios version and link; R01-F3 ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/desktop/mai...1mr1f3.zip

link to VIA 6421 sata driver http://data.versiontracker.com/drivers/m..._V410a.zip bios is located in file \BIOS\VT6421\6421V431.rom (if you know where to get a new version rom then by all means but i couldint find the .rom of one newer)
thanks for your help!

It's not going to fit. Your BIOS is only 256KB with ~2KB free and the VT6421 ROM is 62KB.

Feel free to use/link/host any BIOS I post, no credit necessary. However, this is at your own risk and I take no responsibility. Always keep a backup of a known-good BIOS. Don't flash a motherboard if you don't have a backup computer just in case.

Always use RAID mode. RAIDFix

Removing the logos did not give me enough. They were big but removing them did not free all of their space for compressed code. Not sure what's up with that but I suppose they just compressed quite well. I looked at what you might not need and thus removed the PXE ROM. I assume you don't boot from the network.
