[Unlocked] Sony Vaio VPCSA Advanced menus
#1
Hi, following my post here I was recommended to this forum.
I am looking to unlock the advanced menus in my Sony Vaio SA bios, I've attempted to do this myself using tools such as these. however, I got suck because the menus I desire are disabled by the use of "opcode 0x27". I figure changing this requires hex editing the setup menu, and then re-compressing it into the bios, which is where I got stuck. I would be extremely grateful if someone (or maybe its just the site admin that does these things?) could help me out here.
Here is my bios dump: http://www.mediafire.com/?k787ktuf73287f3
Here are all the tools I have been using: http://www.mediafire.com/?iffd5pldrl7m6nd
Here are the "numbers" I have found so far:
Quote:VSS_OFFSET = 0x351048
VSS_SIZE = 0x00ffb8
STRING_TABLE = 0x13190
FORMS = [
('power', 0xe3d0),
('advanced', 0xec90),
('form3', 0x84110),
('form4', 0x841a0),
('form5', 0x84670),
('form6', 0x847f0),
]
I *think* I just need the advanced form, but I'm pretty confused with the dump I got, as nearly all the forms I managed to read aren't actually visible.
I have tried editing the VSS tables using data I found in the setup dump, and managed to enable a few things myself, eg ACHI, VT-d, but it would be so much better to have a menu.

And lastly, here are some screenshots of the bios:

sorry for waffling on a little,
All help is much appreciated!

Please provide a link to the BIOS download, you can find this on the manufacturers website.

Thanks.

Modding your backup will only serve to you as it has all laptop unique data on it. and will be useless for other users.

Post link to official bios updater and i will have a look at it. Wink
Nevermind, i already had it Smile

Look for modded bios in my second folder, read my signature to find it Wink

Please remember to come back and leave feedback. I hate leech and disappear thing.

Nice day.

Wow, thanks for the quick response.
Have tested it, and it works just great, haven't been through all the options, but I tested a few and they work fine.
Really, really great work, thanks a lot!
