HP MCP61PM-HM (Nettle3) 5.17 With Unlocked Overclocking Options
(08-21-2011, 03:49 AM)Trac Wrote: Windows is saying my product key is no longer valid. How do I fix this?

assuming yours is a genuine key then you just try to activate over the internet again then if that fails phone the free phone number provided after online activation fails then Microsoft will activate it for you.

Thanks toshiba,
Yea it's genuine, but internet isn't working, so I'll have to call. Looking for my Gateway receipt, or will I need it?

no you just need the activation code, when they ask how many pc's the key is used on say 1 and they give you the code to activate

I have successfully flashed ami bios on my rev 2.2 mobo, with eprom writer. After update my mobo recognized the cpu correctly, but I m facing 3 problems:

1. IRQ routing table error
2. I have to plugin any usb drive to even empty to boot system. Otherwise cursor only blinks and the computer does not pick up the HDD.
3. firewire is not working that probably is because of irq routing table error.

otherwise system is ok.

any help would be appreciated.

Brainfart, I entered the authentication code, and was directed through an automated verification process. It’s all good.

Great work to everyone! If you are interested in writing up an article Trac we can submit it on our Blog and link it to the first post.

Ezence - Thanks much for the benchmarks, this is great verfication for the confirmed section.

iarao - You may want to try the alternative retail BIOS I posted several pages back with the same linux flash procedure, it should resolve the IRQ errors you are having as its a different BIOS entirely for this mobo.

Thanks everyone, nice work.

Thanks TheWiz, I will try and post the results. What about the biostar bios U successfully flashed and used?

A quick update, the mobo with the new BIOS has been stable and running great for a couple weeks now.
I'm going to order some hardware to upgrade for more speed and possibly OCing.
The Phenom II X4 95W 3.0Ghz 945 is now $95 at newegg. It is the C3 stepping which is suppose to be better for overclocking than the C2.
G.SKILL RAM, I believe TheWiz posted that this was the best ram for this board in the Nettle2 thread, $70 for 4GB.
Cooler upgrade: I already have the Freezer64 pro, but the new ZALMAN 7X is getting great reviews, and you don't have to remove your motherboard.
Case fan rear exhaust, I already have a Scythe 100mm installed.

Is this BIOS an Unlock or just a CPU upgrade? Quite a few items are grayed out.

Looking forward to OCing, good luck all.

Nice hardware spots. The G.SKILL that works best in these boards is the Newegg link here:

The CPU you chose is also a very good choice.

As for everyone as well, you might want to test the Biostar BIOS I posted if you are able. The BIOSTAR will definitely resolve your IRQ errors, and will have better support for the C3 stepping (from what I've tested so far). I'm not too familiar on what the OC options were, but I'd recommend comparing the two BIOSes before installing the new hardware.

My bad, and good catch, for some reason I thought the DIMMs were limited to 1GB sticks. Which leads to a question, isn't it better to use less DIMMs if possible? energy savings or whatever.
