Please I am in desperate need of help with my laptop. I have a Lenovo Y50-70, got a new battery but it is an 'aftermarket' part. I've spent hours searching and trying to diagnose why it shuts down after a few seconds of being on battery power, only to find out that Lenovo has a 'whitelist' for parts in the BIOS that is causing this issue.
No not at all. No messages, battery works absolutely fine, I have run out of troubleshooting options, I have done pretty much everything except for smashing the laptop against the wall (that's how frustrated I am). Re-flashed bios multiple times, set defaults, rollback, calibrated the battery with the lenovo app to "gauge" it, etc.
I can confirm it is the BIOS preventing it from booting up on battery because if I install the old battery it gets to windows desktop fine, but with the aftermarket one it does not get to load windows, it shuts off (BIOS doing something). Strangely enough, if I get into bios, then proceed to windows, it allows it and the computer boots into windows, BUT after a minute or so it will suddenly shut off.
Any further insights? I think I will have to return this battery and get a genuine one, I can't believe this. Never buying a Lenovo product again.
