To clarify the instructions on Linux Using Ubuntu Live CD (11.04) (RECOMMENDED FLASH PROCEDURE)
Have files on flash drive...
open terminal
sudo apt-get install subversion
Ubuntu software center (search libpci)
install Linux PCI Utilities (Development files)
Now do (in terminal):
svn co svn://coreboot.org/flashrom/trunk flashrom
cd flashrom
make
sudo make install
navigate to flash drive in terminal: (mine was located at /media/745B-FD7D):
cd /media/{your dir}
backup old bios
sudo flashrom -r bios.bak (will store in curent directory)
now sudo flashrom -f -w BIOS.ROM (or whatever you named it)
run command again if it doesn't take the first time. Then you are done

Hi, I'm new to this forum but have followed this thread carefully from start to end... It seems to be a lot of issues raised around, specially the problem with the PCI irq-table error and sound missing +++, and I wonder if these problems was solved finally or still pending testing. (are there any testing still going on!?) Looks like this HP MCP61PM-HM (Nettle3) mobo-thread have calmed down due to old tech and not that [censored] to spend time and effort on... but there have been some new posts lately in this thread and I therefore just want to see if any of you magic guys still are around!?
My question is;
- anybody out there who made this mod BIOS work properly on the HP MCP61PM-HM (Nettle3), and if so - what exactly mod BIOS file do you end up with to use? I believe the latest posting by TheWiz (or was it kev711 ?) at present page 1 with the file name < M801W_10.BIN > is the latest - and perhaps working one!?
- anybody tried a six core with success? Saw at page 7 DiamondJim was eager to try an AMD Phenom II X6 HDT55TWK6DGR (95W), but was not tried out. I have one AMD Phenom II X6 HDT55TWK6DGR (95W) processor inbound these days, and shoud love to hear if this can work out well!
My mobo is the MCP61PM-HM (Nettle3) v 2.2 rev A3 (with the small font "Made in China" txt printed on the board).
I have noticed the problems with flashing the new BIOS - and intend to use the ubuntu flashing procedure. Any new experiences gained or is it still easy go lucky here?
Update; flashed the new BIOS file M801W.BIN successfully, after disabling default bios password changed fan speed to auto and set temp threshold all worked well, no problems or errors, and after enabling onboard soundcard Win7 find all hardware!
