Hello and Happy New Year! Sorry for the late update. So the guy I was working with was
not able to unlock the "advanced cpu controls" power menu settings in my bios. But in throttlestop, I went into the TPL menu and changed the Intel Power Balance with CPU=31, and now when I run various stress tests, the multiplier partially boosts to 28x, but never higher. Why is the multplier only topping out at 28x?
Attach are three pictures with hwmonitor. The first one is with all cores loaded. The second one is with hyper-pi running one 1 processor. The third one is hyper-pi with all 8 processors, but I'm noticing now that once the temperature hits about 68C, it begins to throttle the cpu. Isn't that too early for it to throttle? I've never heard anyone say 68C at full load being too hot.
The previous CPU in this laptop was a i3-2310m, which does not have Intel Turbo Boost, and a TDP of 35W. I am still currently using the stock AC adapter, which is rated at 90W. Do I need upgrade it to a 120/150W brick?
