ASUS RAMPAGE III EXTREME BIOS - V1601 - Updated OROM MOD
getting back to the jMicron eSATA/SATA controller....

We are using 1.07.28 patched for AHCI. This patch changes the controller from IDE to AHCI mode.
The newer 1.08.01 has not been patched as of yet, but it DOES operate faster.

The GOOD news is I have patched 1.08.01 myself. I disassembled 1.07.28 and 1.08.01. compared where the patches were for 1.07.28 and found the corresponding code locations in 1.08.01. I have tested it myself with a drive in full AHCI mode. I won't be using this controller in my daily use, so if anyone finds issue, please let us know.

Now that that research is done, I will build the new S22 releases with the above two changes.

I have finally tested every OROM on our board. The current OROM for S22 will have the newest available that offer FULL compatibility with our mainboard.

thats very great News , i am happy

I just did some digging on the VT-d feature. It is not patchable via OROM, nor MicroCode. This feature is in the BIOS' main code.
If you REALLY want VT-d, your only option is to contact ASUS and ask if they will patch/update a BIOS for VT-d.

Thank you pir8man for the constant updates!

First off I just wanted to say thanks for the work on including the new option roms and microcode.

Now I have upgraded to the S21 rom image and upgraded (or shall I say downgraded) my RST driver to 13.6.3.1001, but for some reason I cannot get the 13.6.3.1001 RST software to load at all. I run it, approve the system change and it basically shows a couple of bars going from left to right and then a final one going from right to left before the installer just exits without installing anything.
Edit: I fixed it by removing the version checking... it all installed just fine.

I am on the latest patched verion of 1803 of Win 10 Pro OS build 17134.345

Lastly I have a Sandisk SSD connected to the Marvell controller. I am only running a single SSD in the system. My other drives are all connected to the Intel RAID controller (4 drives total and a Blue-Ray writer for 5 devices) with two of teh 4 drives in a RAID0 array, thus my need to run the RAID rom.

Would I be better off putting the Sandisk SSD on the Intel controller as well, or is that only if I was trying to run a RAID array of SSD drives?

Thanks for any input on these issues... Oh, I will be flashing over to the S22 rom as soon as I am done posting this.

If anyone has 1601 untouched, please attach it to a post or a link to it.  Thank you.

Been searching the internet for R3E Beta BIOS 1601 but couldn't find anything. I'm sure that I had found it when googling a few years ago. Weird...

There is a post with a mention to 1601 from SkOrPn in page 6 of this thread (post #51), but no idea whether it is untouched or not.

I believe all SSD drives will benchmark better on the Intel SATA ports/controller, regardless of AHCI or RAID configuration.  The Marvell 9123 chip caps out at about 225MB/s speeds.   Where the Intel ICH10R can move data at about 250MB/s.  your SSD may be rated faster than these, but this is the best these older chips could do.  The performance will match the lowest common denominator (i.e. the chipset speed).

If you happen to have an SSD rated slower than 225MB/s it will perform better on the Marvell by utilizing SATA3 protocol improvements.  The Marvell is the best for HDD SATA3 for this same reason.

As pir8man wrote (and my tests also confirmed), your SSD will perform much smoother on the Intel controller.

If you move your SSD to the Intel controller and your two RAID drives are non SSD drives, you can alternatively move them to the Marvell controller (Marvell configured as RAID). This way you can switch Intel controller to AHCI mode. But this may require to re-create your RAID array on the Marvell controller, so be prepared to back up your RAID array before making this move.

Thanks a lot to pir8man.

I have flash the S22i. Now i have no problems with the DriveXpert view and Network PXE. The only Thing is, if i enable Intel Raid then my OCZ RevoDrive 3 Bios will not boot and i cant use my RevoDrive 3.

I think this is a OROM Problem. Am i right??
