I've just found an easy fix for the EC misalignment problem without any additional hardware . The process is very simple and probably it would be appropriate to include it in the next BIOS mods released for Lenovo y50-70, so please consider adding it @BDMaster.
So, off to the method:
1. Extract EC from the bios (https://www.sendspace.com/file/hgbw0f - this is the EC of 3..03 version)
2. Copy it along the flashit tool to a flash drive with DOS installed. http://www.mediafire.com/download/004wmc...t+Tool.zip
3. Boot from the drive and just use this command:
flashit ec.bin /ec
Then wait a few seconds.
4. Profit, you get less chance of weird firmware errors, probably they are rare but it's still nice to be protected. Long story short, you no longer get mismatched EC and BIOS(for example 3.03 BIOS and 1.14 EC)
Hi mate,
Many thanks for report and nice to know that Flashit can write the EC Region yet
It's a really good news !!!
Regards
I couldn't find a copy of v3.03 EC, but it's relatively easy to extract from the original 9ecn43ww.exe. Required tools: innoextract, 7-Zip, HxD editor, flashit (see above)
1. Use innoextract tool to pull out the 9ecn43ww.exe app payload, then 7-Zip to extract the file WinZIVY2X64_8M.rom.
2. With HxD, open WinZIVY2X64_8M.rom and select block with start-offset (hex 824020), length (hex 20000) and write as new file EC.bin. This file should be exactly 131072 bytes (128K).
3. Copy EC.bin to a bootable DOS drive, and run flashit EC.bin /ec.
If you've modded your BIOS using a 3.03 backup, this will match EC revisions again. I want to thank @BDMaster for his detailed modding instructions. Was able to remove whitelist, add hidden menus, and update CPU microcode to the last versions before Spectre fixes.

I don't think booting from the internal SD works because it's a PCIE device, and BIOS only recognizes SATA & USB drives for booting.
If you connect a USB card reader, it should work.
