packard bell g5630 bios r01-a1 unlocking
#21
I have the same system and was able to unlock the BIOS in the following way:

- The BIOS is an AMI BIOS dated from 2008, it can be edited using AMI tools from that date (perhaps even more recent)
- Using AMIFLASH you can make a .rom backup of the BIOS
- Using AMIBCP you can edit that ROM file in a nice Windows GUI and enable the hidden voltage control settings
- Again use AMIFLASH to put that modified .rom into the BIOS chip

All the above can be done through Windows GUI so no need to dig into DOS.
The tools are a bit harder to find these days, I found them on the following sites:
http://www.ami.com/support/downloads/amiflash.zip
http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/529-Bios-Tools

Each tool comes with a clear PDF manual explaining the features.

Hi Daerdor,

I also own a Packard Bell G5630 with the mentioned Bios.

Backing up my Bios works, but trying to edit it doesnt.
When I try to open it with AMIBCP, opening the file fails.
"Rom Header not found".

Since you managed to edit your Bios, could you send me a copy of the edited file?

Thanks in advance!
