Hello!
I recently acquired a Dell alienware aurora R4 x79 based computer from my friend and ordered an E5-1680 v2 to upgrade it however when this xeon cpu is installed the computer will not POST. I've found one other thread where a similar topic was discussed (https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-R...y-Bridge-E) where the last poster says it's impossible to get these ivy bridge e xeon's to work due to some unnamed hardware limitation. The only thing that comes to mind is this mobo's supposed lack of ECC ram support. As far as I can tell the bios has the required microcode by default (0ED6E416) so I'm unsure why it won't work and would very much appreciate it if someone more knowledgeable could take a look. Thanks!
1. Make DOS USB-stick (e.g, by Rufus),
2. Download ME-firmware v8.1.70.1590. Unpack, rename it me.bin and copy it to created DOS USB-stick.
3. Go to \Intel ME System Tools v8 r3\FWUpdate\Local-DOS and copy FWUpdLcl.exe to created DOS USB-stick.
4. Boot from created DOS USB-stick.
6. Type in command line: FWUpdLcl -f me.bin
7. Make a photo of results.
8. Don't reboot but power off your system and disconnect power cord for few minutes.
9. Boot and make in BIOS Load Defaults, save and exit.
10. Boot in Windows and show results of MEInfo again.
