need overclocking in P5GL-MX unlocked past 240 fsb as well as other stuff
#21
No, I got the info about Ratio, it means it's hidden, I'll unlock it. As for Memtest (hope you're not messing it with Memset) - as I remember it does work well with memory over than 1GB. It's a pretty old utility and it's algorithms are ineffective with such capacities. Though maybe there were some updates fixing this.

No no im not messing with both of them at the same time. Memtest always froze when allocating the memory that it was testing just like it would freeze by itself all my usb turns off and whole comp freezes. But memtest in windows works perfect with 5/4 ratio.
And another thing i wanted to ask u antinomy was when i overclock to anything over 240 fsb in 5/4 ratio i get blue screens in windows (irq not less or equal ones) and it only happeneds when using programs for some reason.... i even ran memtest in windows to 260 percent then went surfing on the net and got that and after playing starcraft 2 as well.... and my comp wont load windows with anything over 250 fsb just freezes or reboots automatically after bios is done loading and everything. I can get into bios shows correct mhz but just dosnt like loading windows wierd. But even with 250 fsb it loads windows perfectly at 4.0 ghz!! passes memtest and then i get a blue screen! Was thinking of reinstalling windows but dont know if it will fix that one... And at 4.0 ghz my ram is running actually according to cpuz 200.5 mhz so perfect 5/4 ratio so its not my ram... not too sure just was wondering if u could enlighten me. Thank u again antinomy for taking the time to help me out! Very appreciated and very thoughtfull of u!

Well, what can I say - overclocking is not only about memory, it's about CPU and chipset too Wink
You've tested the memory - fine. But maybe your CPU is unstable at this frequency so the memory test is O.K. but when you stress it with a game, everything fails. A rule of thumb for overclocking is "try to overclock components one at a time". I mean - now you know that your memory looks like stable at 250FSB but something else isn't. Maybe it's the CPU - I'll unlock the multiplier option and you'll lower your CPU multi. This will give you 250*14=3500 like you had before. But you can test with a stress test and be sure that your chipset and memory work fine at 250FSB and it's definitely the CPU. Then it's up to fight the Vcore menu and you should be able to achieve stability at higher CPU frequency.

Ok sweet thanks for the advice! and ya i guess that would definatly pin point the problem. And that would be ausome if u can unlock everything antinomy! Thank u again!!Big Grin
Ok antinomy i got it perfectly stable at 4.0 ghz!!! with 5/4 ratio anyways! I have a program that comes with my motherboard called ai booster. This program controls everything on my board down to the fsb (which it wont change at all) and my voltage! I was able to up my voltage in windows becuase i was able to boot into windows at 4.0 ghz and upped it to 1.54! Which is pretty high from 1.35 but i thought why not just to check it out. My cpu heat is around 55 degrees celcius on full load and around 48 when idle or lower. Which is ausome can probably reduce the voltage a bit anyways, probably dont need that much but with the voltage control being in my bios it will be much more stable and i will be able to reach beyond 4.0 ghz!! Just dropped it to 1.5 volts... cpu heat dropped dramatically and gona see if its stable!

Try this one:

Let me know, what you see in the Vcore section. And another one - in CPU configuration you should have multiplier option unlocked Wink

Ha! No way! Your ausome antinomy! Ill post back! Thank u!Big Grin
Ok well checked it out and there is no option in the cpu config for changing multi... just the same ones that were there so it didnt show up and the vcore is really wierd. It has a whole bunch of screwed up sybals and then i can literally scroll though every option and like everything that is in my bios ill email u pics of it! its really wierd same big blue windows like before tho.

no luck in fixing that voltage control yet eh antinomy? And by the way i am updating my bios by using asus update in winodws. It should work correctly but was just wondering if u think that could corrupt the bios u made for me or not? I dought it but just wondering..

Hey antinomy! I was wondering if u could also enable memory remapping for my bios... If there is an option hidden or if u need to make a option please enlighten me! There is no memory remapping option at the moment. Thanks for the work! Hope u can get this working properly! Thank u again!
