[REQUEST] Acer Aspire VN7-592G BIOS Unlock
#31
So we can try 3 methods.
1.Use Ray111.fd as recovery name of modded bios
2.Patch stock flasher so you can use it to flash mod
3.Use SPI Programmer+Pomona SOIC8 clip

Please,do not post requests me in PM.Bios modding is very dangerous work.If i provide you confirmed modded bios, please donate for my dangerous work https://goo.gl/98BgtO.Thank you!

I'd like to start with the first method.

I used UEFITool to look at my BIOS and the only mention of the string ".fd" resulted in "RayleighSL.fd". I took the Ray111.fd file, renamed it to "RayleighSL.fd", stuck it on a F32 flash drive, powered the laptop off, held Fn + Esc and powered the laptop on.

It did nothing for a few seconds, read the flash drive, fan speed changed slightly, and then a few seconds later the laptop powered off. I'm not sure if this is because that BIOS isn't meant for recovery or what.

I looked for other potential names like BIOS.fd, Bios.fd, HadesX64.fd and PoseidonX64.fd, tried those, and they only caused the laptop to reboot. RayleighSL.fd was the only name that caused a different reaction, so perhaps it is the recovery name and I just need a modded BIOS that would allow for recovery? Or perhaps I need more files on the flash drive? Some sources say I need a flash tool on the drive itself.

In any case, I'm interested in continuing and would like to try the recovery method first, if you wouldn't mind modding the BIOS whenever convenient.

Ok, i found too many hidden tabs and must be sure what are locked.
Can you post screenshot of each tab presented in your bios setup?

0xB2B44 Information (0x1350 from string package 0x0)
0xB3E84 Main (0x128E from string package 0x0)
0xB5604 Advanced (0x1351 from string package 0x0)

0xD9364 Boot (0x12E5 from string package 0x0)
0xDA674 Exit (0x1319 from string package 0x0)
So there are four tabs locked.
Set your laptop to suspended mode and wake up it after few seconds. After than run that tool as Admin and look at result11.0.0.1194.png.Do you see red text of error?

I recall trying the tool after suspend/wake a few days ago and don't believe it helped (read was successful, write wasn't)

Prepare an USB Fat32 Formatted and copy https://www.sendspace.com/file/f47vlp, rename it to possible recovery name, then use this Procedure :

- Performing the emergency flash:
- Shutdown the netbook (notebook)
- Remove all peripheral devices
- Remove battery, Remove AC power cord
- Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds (battery and AC power still out), then release
- Put the USB Memory Stick in the USB port
- Hold "Fn" + "Esc" and plug the AC power cord in
- Now press the power button (whilst still holding Fn + Esc).
Wait until the fan will run, then release "Fn" + "Esc" keys
- The fan will run for about 2-10 minutes and the USB drive activity LED will blink
- I think the netbook rebooted automatically. If it doesn't, unplug the AC power cord once the fan has turned off

Hmm, it didn't seem to work. The laptop reads the flash drive and then proceeds to boot normally. This differs than when using the official BIOS named the same way.

I noticed that the modded BIOS seems to be about 3MB smaller than the official BIOS image, could the size differene be throwing off the recovery option?

Perhaps modifying the Insyde flash tool that's provided with the official BIOS is the next step to try?

I modded bios image obtained from Intel Flash Programming Tool, this bios was read directly from bios chip.
However, as you made notice, bios size from official pack is larger than my mod.
New bioses have protection and RSA signes and sertificates so vendor take care about his hardware.
I started research how to bypass Insyde SecureFlash (For Lenovo only) so mod can be flashed used stock flashing tool.
So SPI Programmer+Pomona SOIC8 clip is your last chance at now.
