T7700 support on Acer TravelMate 7730 & Acer Extensa 7230
#41
The file 'flashabl.bak' is on the laptop somewhere.
Dont know where. But anyway: the laptop is still on but frozen (CPU on 99% ; windows-plash 0% ; taskmanager 80%).

How to get to that .bak file?

Try to close WinPhlash64 by Task Manager.

The laptop/mouse is not responding. CPU on 99%.

Taskmanager open. But cannot move to nor click on WinPlash64

(Late night..) update:
Just forced shut-down the laptop. Re-started and ... still booting ;-)
It is still on same version 0.3810 (so the new 2.3821 was not flashed or reverted)
=
I still would like to get rid of that message at boot-up
How to do that?
Can you please give step-by-step instruction?

Use DOS-flasher from official BIOS 3821.

I am guessing now what you probably mean:

1)
- Change the DOS boot-stick: add the official DOS BIOS-file
- Boot from DOS boot-stick
- Run the given phlash-command, using the name of official DOS BIOS-file.
Now version 3821 is on BIOS.

2)
- Boot from DOS boot-stick
- Run the given phlash-command, using the name of the modded DOS BIOS-file.
Now modded version 3821 is on BIOS.

Correct?

Use official BIOS - http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/...9440400658
DOS-flasher is zy2_3821.exe

Yes, I already had and have that official DOS BIOS-file of version 3821.
Thank you. But that is not the question.

Question is: how to proceed? What exact steps to take?

(remember yesterday we almost bricked the laptop? just by pure luck the old BIOS was maintained. I must not again do an action that can brick the laptop (our luck is used up now).

I have from my side indicated in the previous message what I understand to be the next steps
(objective: add modded BIOS with microcode for T7700 so that message at boot stays away).

I repeat what I think you mean:

Correct?

Not correct.
I repeat at last time: make DOS USB-stick, copy to it official DOS-flasher (zy2_3821.exe), boot in DOS and run zy2_3821.exe

Come back when you can successfully flash offical BIOS 3821.

Well:

1)
I flashed the official 3821-BIOS.
All worked well.
