Hi mate,
I promised many times to explain how to modify the vBios into yours Bioses !
So I will take a brief to say few thihgs about It . . .

We have to ways to modify vBios on our Laptop :

1. Update It into Eeprom Chip directly from DOS using GPU manufacturer Tools (NVFlash e.g.)

2. Modify our Bios Backup (as Original is Signed not reflashable) and rewrite back

About 1st way It's simple just get vBios version to update and Tool to write back and update It !
For 2ns way It's more complicated . . .

1. We have to make a Bios Backup
2. Use some Tools to check our version vBios
3. Find Modules to modify and extract them
4. Modify our vBios Modules
5. Replace Modified into Bios Backup
6. Rewrite back Bios Backup Modified

So to get vBios Modules We have to unpack our Bios Backup and to do this We can use
PMT 2.64 :

Run this tool and open Bios file then You get a DUMP folder with all Modules into
and now You have to find into any of them the right pattern to find the vBios Modules !
The simplest way is to use AIDA64 Tool like into this guide (Donovan6k) to make a vBios
Dump file :

Then after vBios Dump extraction is more easy to find the vBios Module to edit !
There is a further way and It use the "IBM" or "NVIDA" or "ATI" words and find
them into Modules, but It will be another history

To reflash Back the Bios Mod It depends by many factors like CPU - Eeprom Protections - luck
The most used actually is Intel FPT Tool on Intel CPU and Sleep Bug (discovered by me) . . .
It's not exsaustive Guide and not Completed, but a start point to understand and make tests

Please Downgrade to version 1.13 or 1.14 to Unlock Eeprom Chip and flash Bios Mod
over Downgrade . . .

For Bios after version 1.14 then follow this Guide

How To Downgrade :

Remember to set the Option (BIOS Back Flash) in bios that
enables you to flash an older bios, before you run it.

I found another solution - Just in case it was ever needed.
Download the 1.14 version

Then use 7-zip to extract that .exe file, You will find a platform.ini file into that folder.
Then Look for "BIOSVFEnable=2" and replace it with "BIOSVFEnable=0", run as Administrator InsydeFlash.exe tool and go !
Verified working !

Now You can flash the Bios Mod using Slee Bug . . .
Unpack the Bios Mod and copy the "modified" folder into C: HD root place !
Then open Command Promt with Admin Rights (CLI window C:\), put your laptop
into Sleep Mode (just close the Lid) and then Wacke-Up It (reopen the Lid),
after this execute these comands from CLI window :

cd \

cd modified

fptw -f bios.bin -bios

(or fptw64 for Windows x64)

We flash v.3.0 over BIOS version 1.14 which unlock eeprom, but It disalign EC code.

Hello dear BIOS Gurus!

I have Lenovo Y50-70 (model 20378) with FHD IPS Screen and nV 960M graphics (if this is of any importance).


I kindly ask (and will donate for your time and help) for assistance with:
1) teaching me the correct procedure
2) removing whitelist so I can use Intel 7260AC instead of the crappy stock Lenovo that drops every 5minutes
3) unlocking advanced BIOS item? What does this unlock? Memory settings? CPU/chipset settings? 

I have read previous request threads. But still I am not 100% about the procedure.


- I downgrade from my version my current 2.00 BIOS bz flashing 1.14 with "BIOSVFEnable=0".
- I use Insyde backup of the 1.14 and send it for modding.
- The person modding the BIOS than uses the 1.14 dump to mod latest version 3.03 https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mob...cn43ww.exe
- I flash the modded 3.03 using ?

- Will this whole thing keep the embedded OS License?
- There is no way of doing this without Windows, right? :/

Hi there, pretty new to this forum.

Possible to unlock the advance options for Lenovo Y50-70 9ECN43WW (VER3.03) Bios?

What do i need to post and may i check how much i have to pay if it help??  

I'm actually hoping for things like bus speed settings, multipliers etc and perhaps fan control as Lenovo bios have a lot of fan speed issues.. And perhaps Wlan Whitelist removal.
