[REQUEST] Lenovo B50-80 (A8CNxxWW) BIOS Unlock
#1
Hi there.

I recently got an HDD caddy so I could extend the storage on my laptop, but unfortunately the second drive isn't recognized within BIOS automatically and since it's completely locked down, I can't change anything.

It would be awesome, if someone could help me unlock the real settings Smile

Here are my results and the firmware installer for the version I have (since the lenovo site seems broken right now):
https://www.sendspace.com/filegroup/Z%2B...aAIUntjydA

As well as screenshots of the current "options":

Thanks!

Hi mate,
We get . . .
Error 280: Failed to disable write protection for the BIOS space!

So your Eeprom Chips is Write Protected and only the Tools (SPI PGM + Clip)
can do this job . . . look here :

https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-R...5#pid74575

If do You want to rewrite back the Bios Mod get the Tools and I will help You !
Let me know

Oh boy, I already feared it would get more complicated than just flashing a new BIOS via Windows...
Well, I'm off to ordering the stuff... see you in a month or so, when the stuff arrives Wink

Edit: actually, I'm only ordering the clip, since I should have enough methods for SPI programming lying around already. I got some arduinos and flashers and if that fails, also RPis and Beaglebones Smile

So it took 2 months to arrive (Note to self, don't choose sellers with Malaysia Post ^^).

Just arrived and I guess I'll have some time today to try and dismantle my notebook to get to the bios eeprom... Any Idea where I might find it? Wink

Yes mate,
You have to look for ENE Chipset and near there are the Eeprom Chips !!!
Please make good MoBo pics on both sides and upload them here so I can see to
and find the chips !!!
Regards

P.S. There isn't any info on internet !

Yeah, I'm searching for info right now and there really isn't much.

There are some SOIP-8 chips that I can see, but I'm suspecting one of them especially.
It has some numbers, but even with them it's hard to find something. It seems to be a SPI flash, though: 25b64bsig

The others seem to be mosfets and other regulating stuff (they're also close to the power input).

Yep, after a few tries of writing with some different chips selected (because this one was not available in the list), I could write and verify the writing successfully.

I now have a ton of options, but they don't help me solve my original problem of the HDD not being recognized in the ODD slot :/
Anyway, you've been awesome and did what you could, thanks!
