The BIOS mod is complete! You can find the modified BIOS image at the bottom of this post.

Mods performed:
• Added an Advanced Menu
• Disabled the function that may have been hiding the INTEL Menu

As PBE (used to emulate BIOSes) could not emulate this BIOS, I was in the dark when modding. Further mods will require pictures of the BIOS menus so I know what is showing up and what is not.

Generic Warnings/Disclaimers:
Quote:Please remember to take proper precautions when flashing your BIOS. Even if the image is safe, the flashing process can still fail. Make sure that (if applicable) your notebook is fully charged (100%), the power plug is properly connected, and that the chance of the power going out is as minimal as possible. Do not interrupt the flashing process. If possible, it is a good idea to have a working CRISIS recovery disk when messing with your BIOS. Use the flashing instructions for your particular computer brand. DO NOT DO ANYTHING UNNECESSARY!!!

I take absolutely NO responsibility for ANY damages that may occur to you, your computer, your personal belongings, your neighbor's cat, or any other personnel or equipment as a direct or indirect result/consequence of your, or anyone else's, use or misuse of any of the files that are in this archive at the present or at any time in the past or the future. You assume full responsibility for any damages or inconveniences that may occur by choosing to flash, or otherwise use or misuse, this image or any of the other files within this archive.

Have fun! Smile

Please remember to post the results (pictures if possible) of the BIOS flash. As I could not emulate this BIOS, this is especially important.

Greetings Sml6397,

I have reached a wall of brick with the .wph bios file and I need bios-mods help!

My goal is to update the latest microcode for my CPU, which is a:

Family Intel Core i3 Mobile
Processor number i3-330M
CPUID 020652

The modded bios have older microcodes, which I presume is in the original bios as well:

CPUID=20652 Rev=09 2009/11/12 CRC=E580B1FE off=19F020 Size=1C00 Plat=1,4

And I wish to upgrade it to the latest microcode:

CPUID=20652 Rev=0E 2013/06/26 CRC=8D3E4AF9 off=0 Size=2000 Plat=1,4

The problem is that "CBROM195.EXE" hangs when trying to read the .wph file or to add the new microcode, which is a .bin file.

The commands used are:

cbrom195.exe bios.wph /D (displays all bios info)

cbrom195.exe bios.wph /nc_cpucode NCPUCODE.BIN
(this NPCPUCODE.bin file contains the new microcode without the other ones)

The only program that can read the bios.wph is "intelmicrocodelist.exe" but that's about it.

I would greatly appreciate if you or someone else could help me add the microcode or put me on the right path by guiding with steps for my resolution as I want to keep Virtualization enabled.

I am willing to learn everything as long as I get my peace of mind. Smile

As a side note, from my research and actually applying a microcode for my desktop motherboard (ASUS P5KPL-AM IN/ROEM/SI) it somehow does improve the life of the CPU: temps lowered, CPU fan spins slower for quite reasons ~600rpm and the overall system feels snappy and fast)

Cheers,
Eugen

Hi mate,
We need to check the CPUID of Original not presumed so We have
two ways :

1. Install Original and then make an AIDA64 Full Report
2. Make a Bios Backup and an AIDA64 Full Report

In both cases I will be sure that the CPUID data will be your and actually into
Bios !
As I cannot find the CPUID You posted !
Let me know
Regards

Use this tool run It as Admin and upload here the result file :

Use AIDA64 tool too (cracked version to get FULL REPORT) and upload a Report too

let me know

Hello BDMaster,

Thanks for replying!

I know for sure that my cpuid is "20652", AIDA64 reads differently the cpuid and it is showing as 00020652h, the reason of the "h" at the end is stating that it is a"hexadecimal number" thus, it can be ignored.

I used "microcodelist.exe" to match the cpuid with my cpu, as seen in the picture below :
(this little program reads the microcode for various bioses, I just drag and drop the desired bios and it will display the installed microcodes.)

The microcodes above are present in both original and modded bios.

Here is a picture of the bios with the microcode:

And the newer microcode would be:

But you are right! better to be safe than sorry. Smile

The "BACKUP_Tools14a" has failed to fetch info as my platform is not supported, either way, the files are attached for review.

Thank you,
Eugen

P.S.: I've noticed in the full report that the Maximum Clock can be 3200 MHz, the current multiplier is x16, can I do something to raise the clock to a higher amount of MHz?

Hello mate,

I'm already lost. Sad

Could you please make one, and, if possible, could you write down a few steps?

Thank you,

Hello Master,

That did the trick.

I don't know what kind of magic did you do in this bios, but it has the newest microcode.

Further testing implies of course.

Below you can find the change reflected in the last row.

As well as displayed in BIOS.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
