[solved] p5kc bios need ahci
#71
Hi,

I'd like to use an ssd (Samsung 840 EVO 120Gb) on my desktop PC with P5KC

Could you help me to choose the correct file in /BIOS/AMI/ACHI mods/?

p5kc-1203_ahci.rom or p5kc-1203_slic-ahci_v2.rom

It's an assembled PC (all the components....case, cpu, mb, ram, psu, etc... were choosen by me)

Thanks

Hi,

this is my experience...

I downloaded and installed p5kc-1203_ahci.rom.
I installed my new SSD (Samsung EVO 840 120GB).
Now I have 2 SATA devices connected to the motherboard.
1. HDD Seagate Barracuda 500GB Sata-2
2. SSD

Ok, let's open the bios.
Now I can select AHCI in SATA Mode and set the ssd as main drive.
Save and restart
While starting, my system stops saying "Auto-Detecting AHCI Port 1".
After some tries I disconnected my hdd so there's only one sata device connected (SSD). (dvdrom is not sata)
All seems to work correctly, I installed Windows 8.1 without problems... and I can see that it's really really fast.

My problem is now to use both the SSD and the HDD (otherwise my 500Gb are lost).

Is it possible in AHCI mode?

Actually it works (ssd + hdd) using IDE mode

Thanks in advance.

Asus p5kc bios 1203 slic w/o ahci
Asus p5kc bios 0401 with ahci

I just gave it a try.

Download and flash at your own risk, ensure you have way to recover in case of something goes wrong.

DOWNLOAD YOUR MOD HERE.

Try changing "SATA Configuration" values in "SATA Configuration" menu. Change and come back to see if AHCI menu appear in main menu screen.

Nice day, and remember to come back and leave feedback. Wink

Dear
Thank you for the firmware, i updated my PK5KC and now AHCI is enabled. I can see it in the samsung software for my 840 evo250go named magician.

Good job

Hello, I own a P5KC too and I need AHCI to install MacOS. I would try this modded bios but where can I find the download?

It works very good but I have an issue because, while my PC recognize my SSD at boot, I'm having trouble with my old HDD on bios. I got stuck "auto-detect AHCI port" and I can only boot with my HDD unplugged.

I can't find the actual download link. Where did you find it?
Both the linked MediaFire folder and the BIOS repository don't seem to hold this mod.

EDIT: found them

My experience:

1. Flash bios with "p5kc-1203_slic-ahci_v2" rom (afundos method with pendrive)
2. Edit the windows register (regedit) with 0 value at the folders "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci" and "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\IastorV"
3. Restart, Bios setup, AHCI activation, save configuration, restart
4. All works fine, well done!

A big thank to Camilo from Italy!

Hi, I have p5kc rev 1.03g and need ahci. May I flash the v2 modded bios that Camilo posted safely? Thru USB stick?

Anything I should foresee?

Thanks a lot!

My Bios is 02.58 and my ASUS P5KC is the one with the extra Jmicron controller.

Can you help me out picking the right bios to flash? I am browsing the repositories but I am not sure what to go for.

Thanks a lot guys.

Wrong information. Bios version is actually 1105.

Do you guys have any hint for me?

Cheers.
