[REQUEST] Lenovo B590 CPU upgrade to i7
#11
In order to perform the CMOS reset, is it enough to remove the small round battery on my mainboard? I couldn't find any switches or jumpers anywhere on the board itself.

Yes, remove "he small round battery" for one minute. Laptop's battery must be removed!

Thanks! I will try that now. BTW, the seller sent me this:

Looks to be the same as for QC27.

The CMOS reset didn't work, latop is still not able to boot with the new CPU.

It's the fake screenshot. It's of SR0MN and taken from open sources.
Ask a screenshot of third (Mainboard) tab of CPU-Z.
And ask to resend screenshot of QC27 with CPU-Z version 1.75!

The seller says he doesn't have any more available CPUs to take the screenshot, and that the one he sent me is real. My guess is that he didn't even know he had an engineering sample and sent me a screenshot of some generic 3610QM... unless he's lying, of course. In any case, looks like a dead end.

However, I found this on a Chinese website:

The stepping and revision values are different from the previous ones, so it seems legit. Would this be enough info to proceed?

OK, good news, QC0R has CPUID=306A8. Your BIOS has the latest microcode for this CPUID version 10 (02/20/2012).
Can you find first release BIOS for your laptop?

Hooray! Big Grin

You mean the first BIOS version that was made for this laptop? It's probably the one I have now, I don't think Lenovo ever released an update for it.

I will search the Lenovo website in any case.

I found H1ET63WW(1.06), but it has the same microcode.

Wow, you're good Big Grin

Is that a bad thing?
