ASUS RAMPAGE III EXTREME BIOS - V1601 - Updated OROM MOD
#21

If you only have one of each of those drives, you do not need any of the TRIM modified versions. As you did not mention any other drives, I will assume you do not use the PATA controller. And for those particular drives, I would not use the Marvell controller either. Disabling both of those in BIOS will speed up boot time and ensure enough BIOS memory space for updated Network Card firmware.
That leaves you with 1601_s18_slic.rar from post #2.. AND 1601_S18i_slic.rar from post #3.

As far as which is better for your particular hardware... Only testing both and running benchmarks will tell the truth. Fortunately this is another reason why our mainboard has two BIOS'.

Thanks for your help. I will install both and compare it.
Im glad to help us to keep developing BIOS for this mobo. Its a aweasome platform to play.

Im triying to install >INTEL IRST 11.2.0.1006< included in this post. When I run the setup it said: your PC does not meet the conditions necessary to install this software.
Any tip to resolve this issue?

only IRST version 14 was updated to install on Windows 10.  But as you do not use RAID, you do not really need IRST.  you only need the drivers and not the full management application.  You can install just the driver under Windows 10 without issue.

ok thanks, I will try to install only drivers, actually dont mind to do RAID system. At now the boot start is faster than the previous version I had installed. I hope will start with benchmarks soon.

If you add another drive(s) to setup RAID and run Windows 10. You definitely want S18 BIOS as you will also want the v14 management application.

Then you need to decide if you do RAID0 for safety, or RAID1 for speed.
1601_s18_slic.rar is the best choice if you are doing RAID1 SSD or either RAID0 or RAID1 on HDD.
1601_s18_slic_trim.rar is the best choice if you want RAID0 on your SSD drives.

DISCLAIMER: bios is provided "as is". Flash it at your own risk! I won't be responsible for any damage.

BIOS Details:
Built from latest R3E BIOS (BETA) version.  As I understand it,  the only change from the official 1502 and the latest available 1601 R3E beta bios was the CPU MicroCode.  This latest CPU MicroCode supports most (but not all) socket 1366 XEON proessors.

The individual Option ROMs were then updated to newer firmware and/or BIOS versions.  Option ROMs updated are IRST (Intel SATA/RAID Controller), Marvell (SATA-6G), Jmicron (PATA), NIC and injected ASUS SLIC 2.1 tables:

Intel[REGISTERED SIGN] ICH10R SATA RAID Controller: v13.5.0.2164 (With and without TRIM in RAID0 support !)
Marvell 91xx SATA 6G Controller - Bios : v1.0.0.1038*
Marvell 91xx SATA 6G Controller - Firmware: v2.2.0.1125*
Marvell 91xx SATA 6G Controller - Bootloader: v1.0.1.0002b*
JMicron JMB36X Controller: v1.08.01
Intel[REGISTERED SIGN] 82567V-2 Gigabit Network: v1.5.43
SLIC 2.1: ASUS (SSV3/MMtool method)

IMPORTANT NOTE: You are strongly advised to download and install Intel RST software v13.5.2.1000 and Marvell 91xx driver v1.2.0.1048 to match new controller firmware routines.

The Intel RST drivers on that link refer to Intel's website and they are no longer available. Do you know of any other source for this or if there is another version that will work?

Hello again. I have a problem with the SSD. In boot, it said that its unconfigured. I have to configure it throught bios, How? AHCI in bios enabled and windows read speed only reach 392mb/s. I have installed latest marvell 9XX controller and no intel rapid driver, because I dont know how to install this.
Actually the OC works fine. Xeon x5670 at 4.2 GHz with 1.3Vcore and other parameters at low.
How I could get more SSD speed?
