[REQUEST] Lenovo Thinkpad W530 (G5ETxxWW) Whitelist Removal

(08-13-2016, 04:51 PM)Da Vinci Code Wrote: So finally you have 3 unlocked features:
-disabled whitelist (request)
-MSR 0x194 set to 0 (request)
-unlocked Advanced tab
We must check if rewrite protection is still here.
If we are successed, you can flash new bios using Intel FPTSmile

Still protected:

Quote:Error 28: Protected Range Registers are currently set by BIOS, preventing flash access.
Please contact the target system BIOS vendor for an option to disable Protected Range Registers.

Would disabling rewrite protection even help anyone? Users still have to flash the modded BIOS in the first place to disable it.

However error 280 changed to error 28.
Error 28 is bypassable in most causes.
If you have one more request (for example, unlocked Native Hackintosh Power Management MSR 0xe2),we can try use intel FPT to flash new modSmile

Please,do not post requests me in PM.Bios modding is very dangerous work.If i provide you confirmed modded bios, please donate for my dangerous work https://goo.gl/98BgtO.Thank you!

Alright, your donation is sent!

Will this benefit others? I have made the chip socketed, so it's easier for me to flash. But if it could help others, that could be useful.

I don't mind having 0xe2 unlocked (although I don't need it) so let's try that!

It fails to flash. "System flash protection could not be removed"

Ok, let's go to menu SB Security Config, find this option GPIO Lockdown and set to disabled.
Then run Backup tool and check result81.png

It already was disabled when I uploaded the last results.rar. I never enabled it.

However you made dump from one bios chip named MX25L3205D (Embedded Controller), it contains only Me region (private data located here).
All read/write permissions and other data located in bios region named Descriptor.
I already disabled rewrite protection for Lenovo Y50-70, Z50-70.This method works for laptops with 6-7 chipset series.
If you have big interest to have disabled rewrite protection, you may upload dump of big chip named MX25L6405D.
Testing tool dont create Full Firmware dump with all regions like SPI PGM.
For example, you can see 7 Mb dump (it is fusion of Main bios chip and EC).
The tool tell us there are 2 bios chips with 8 mb and 4 mb.As you can see, Full firmware dump have 12 mb size.
You uploaded dump form EC chip only, it contains Whitelist checking module,Me region and private data.
Descriptor with all permissions located in large chip.
