Just to add, in case anyone still wants to keep trying without the aforementioned tools, that you can indeed try and force the flash using a fairly simple method i found thanks to trial and error.
All you have to do is to execute the Insyde Flash utility and try to flash an "invalid" image (e.g. an older version). When it reports an error DON'T close the utility yet; instead go to "C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Local\Temp" and search for the randomly named folder that contains "H2OFFT-Wx64.exe", the flasher itself. Inside it you will find a file named "isflash.bin" that wasn't there before, when unpacking the flasher. That's the BIOS to be flashed. Now, all you have to do is to rename your modded BIOS to "isflash.bin" and put it in that folder, replacing the original one. Run the flasher and it will do it's thing, no errors. It will reboot the machine. But chances are very high that you'll be greeted with the following upon restart:
InsydeH2O - Secure Flash
Error : Invalid firmware image!
Press any key to reset system...
The system will load the previous BIOS, no harm done. No success either, but if you're not willing to give up just yet you can use this as a last resort when all else has failed.
Cheers.
