I'm new to all of this, honestly.  My plan is to follow these guides:

For now, I cannot for the life of me get OEM Windows to cooperate after my old rig spazzed out.  I don't need anything fancy, just for it to activate and pass the genuine check so I can get back to my life.

I managed to get my system back and upgraded another way. I had to involve MS support...not ideal, but I guess I don't need this anymore.
